Classic Microsoft - leverage a partnership with a company seen as your enemy, yet try to do so to keep them at the mercy of the guys in Redmond. That's why MS has always tried to do with Apple - prop them up so they can be seen as viable, but make them your bastard stepchild anyway. This is just a more appalling trespass as they managed to get Novell in a position to market the hard work of thousands of contributors, who simply wanted a free viable alternative for those not wanting to be held to MS's will, in a way quite opposite of the motivation of that work.
I've always liked SUSE as a distro, but once the Novell deal went through, I knew it was only a matter of time until the sour taste was just a little too sickening, making it unconscionable to fathom dealing with them for the foreseeable future. There are better distros out there anyway.
I can see this as a blow to pure electronic voting, but not so much electronically assisted voting. Maybe I'm just cynical thanks to US election debacles, but I find it hard to conceive of a truly trustworthy paperless voting system. The paper ballot and electronic counting setup at least provides a clear path for voting audits when needed.
You know someone over at the MPAA or RIAA is going to spin this in a way that pits pirates as harmful to the future of the planet on an environmental level now too.
While it would have been better had they not violated the GPL in the first place, but it is nice to see that Monsoon is able to admit their mistake and release the code according to the license. Too bad most companies are happy to fight it out in the courtrooms forever, or pay people off, than to stand up and admit when they were wrong.
If you have a very large collection, iTunes management is a nightmare. You can end up with a music folder with hundreds and hundreds of folder, to the point where it is a headache to deal with. If you never look at your music folder - then it's fine I guess. I prefer this structure:
1st Letter of Artist Name/Artist Name/Artist Name - Album Name/Track Number - Track Name
So of course I have to manage my library by hand.
I also don't like throwing partial albums together into a folder with the album name. That just feel s misleading.
Maybe I am missing something, but there are a few pan/scan only movies on that list. So no refund or trade for those who bought Breakin' or Breakin' 2 because according to my memory and amazon.com they are pan/scan only.

This isn't surprising. His audience are the Mom's out there who have no grasp on technology and believe everything they see on the Today Show. His mechanism is putting fear into people who should no better but don't bother taking the time to learn about the issues themselves.

this reminds me of what Apple had to do (and get developers to do) when they were moving from the 680x0 chips to the PowerPC chips - it wasn't until Apple jumped to OS X that they had a truly 100% PPC Native OS. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft handels this transition.
The national plan is flawed anyway. Basically if anyone thinks you are or ever have been a customer of theirs they don't have to abide by the DNC list, sounds like a big loophole to me. Indiana has a version of this that is *much* more strict that the national plan. The number of calls I get now is practically zero. It'd be nice if the national plan was like this but I think it has already been dumbed down by companies who don't like the idea of any national DNC list.
Hopefully both companies realized that the attitudes they have been showing would only do them (and others) more harm than good. We shouldn't have to put up with crap like that. I am sure both sides think they have good reasons, but I can't see any real good out of either company's threat. Still seems really childish to me.
While I know many believe there is no such thing as bad publicity, it really seems like Apple and IGN are bickering school kids. It is crap like this that only serves to harm everyone involved and a lot of third parties. If Apple isn't part of Macworld, then IMHO Macworld is just not that special anymore. Sure focus may go more to other vendors (which may be a good thing) but Macworld really needs a headliner, and Apple has always filled that slot.
If both companies are actually OK with this thing, then I think it shows how little respect they have for the people who shell out their hard earned cash for their crap. They don't need to resort to public "bickering" to get us to understand anything. If they want 1 Macworld Expo in the US per year, so be it. But this whole cloak and dagger theory is just a load of crap.

You are likely safe, if the OS sees both processors, Apple's installer likely to be smart enough to know.
In the good old days before OpenTransport and well before OSX, we had MacTCP. It was just fantastic.

Far Cry performance *IS* improved with SLI as long as you are running above 1024x768 so says Anandtech:
4 &p=14
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=228
and if you are going to drop $800-1200 on video cards, you are not likely to still be gaming at 1024x768, but your credit card might be weeping.

It's there - shared w/ Caps-Lock which looks like you have to use ALT to enable (not such a bad idea maybe)
It is a bit pricey for my taste, and kinda ugly - but a good idea nonetheless
How Apple Will Pay for Universal Muisc
oops, I fscked up
this turns debug on:
defaults write com.apple.safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
this turns it off:
defaults write com.apple.safari IncludeDebugMenu 0
the URL to the actual file is this:

and once again if you haven't enable the debug menu, quit safari, open terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.safari IncludeDebugMenu 0
relaunch safari, the debug menu is on the right and you can turn tabs (etc.) on there
