Err. You still need an entry point into the application. The code for the "hello world" example in the article gave this as a Main method, the static loading in this example wont be reached in the same way and would require more code to complete would it not? Thats what it is in relation to as far as the article is concerned?
+ Crashes too often (but it's beta, so whatever) + Displays css font sizes "correctly", which in IE universe is incorrect. + Slower on low-end hardware. (Low end being a 1 GHz P3!) + Plugin installation is a pain -- even though Mozilla has cloned ActiveX, Adobe/Macromedia/etc don't support it. + No compelling advantage if you aren't interested in tabs. Why go to the trouble
Mine rarely crashes, if ever... on both windows and linux. You may not be reading the installation instructions carefully
I prefer the correct method rather than the M$ method, standards are best enforced by a body rather than corporation wouldnt you say? Developing for IE is getting more and more like developing for Netscape 4.x, I expect this to continue without any substantial upgrades to IE until the next version of windows is released
I was using phoenix/firebird on a p3 550 for a while and it ran smoothly (again your install may be the problem)
Plugin installation is getting better, it is still a beta release as u said and i would expect this to improve further
There are many features, tabs included that i find extremelly useful and they are very little trouble
I agree! It is such a damn nice browser to use. I am still perplexed as to why some of my techie work mates still opt to use IE when they know such a supreme browser like this exists!
In recent years MSN has been (for me anyway) the most common IM to give and take from people you meet travelling. There is little hope to convince many of these people to switch to another protocol (ICQ or something) as I have enough trouble convincing people from work that there are other decent alternatives (for me gaim on linux rocks, not so much though on windows). I mean, it still is great to be able to chat to these buddies across the globe. Is there any hope with my less geeky friends, or do i have to go back to writing group emails (which then get trashed by hotmails crap junk filter) ?
I agree with you that the apple comment was slightly askew, but what about using servlets as the controller? Then there are any number of different views (ie jsp) and data models you can also use within this MVC approach. This is pretty basic stuff but has been around for years. It has little to do with your point about the moderation tho...

Just bored and curious really...
I see how it could work, but an app needs to start before it will load the class doesnt it? How does this example do this?
How does that run from the command line?
i take it by your example that you failed java 101 at university?
Im glad you found something in the article worthwile...
