In summer 2000 I got a dual cpu MSI motherboard. I had to get it exchanged a year later because a half a dozen capacitators had bursted their top. At that time it took with it a 256MB SIMM.
Just last week I got the same problem again and had to get my 3rd motherboard (lucky for that 3 year warranty). This time it corrupted my hard disks which had to be rebuilt from backups.
I like that MSI dual processor board but I dont really want to be exchanging it every year and a half.
Actually it's better they left it out. I dont think the GPL gives you more freedom since it takes away the freedom to use the code in anyway way you may wish. The only license that gives you true freedom is the BSD one.
Yes it is - it's Bluetooth and supports NMEA. All you need is a Palm OS program that knows to access it via BT instead of via the serial port. One of these is Digi-Map (search at Google).
I've been connecting my Palm m505, m515 and Tungsten via BT and an Ericsson T39 and it works great. Will work great with a T68 too. If you combine it with GORS (fast establishment of connection and fast download rates) then it's quite nice. You can surf the web, check email while waiting at the tram stop.
My point exactly. Your system is secure because you patch it.
Windows also has a auto update feature that downloads and install the latest security patches when they are discovered. I usually read about the latest IE explorer and there is a patch available half a day later.
My point is that any system (Windows/Linux) will be more secure if you install the latest patches as exploits are discovered. But the problem is that the average Joe Blow runs Windows and doesnt update his system. If the Joe Blow ran Linux then there would be a lot more bad press about Linux out there. Linux is no inherently more secure, there are plenty of holes to use and abuse.
Windows is not unsecure per say. Linux is as unsecure or more since you can potentially run all these internet services that are full of exploits. The only way Linux is more secure is if you spend several hours every day downloading and installing the latest security patches. This is normal to/. users but not to the average Windows user.
I have heard the excuse that some poeple want to check and reply to their email on the go - that's what a secretary is for. If not a secretary, there are a plethora of alternatives - Laptops, Wireless/Wired palm/pocketce devices and internet booths spring to mind.
And why cant smartphones be the alternative?? It's not because you dont find them useful that others wont.
uh what planet do you come from? According to Slashdot Windows sucks, so how come it is so dam popular? Unfortunately quality does not have that much to do in sales.
And my favorite Slashdot FUD - if something is open source it is better quality. The fact that it is open source or not has nothing to do with the quality.
phh, around '89-'90 there was already a monitor that could do this. Dont remember the brand, anyway I doubt they are still around. Was very cool, as you tilted to horz or vert position the driver would change the resolution. One of my professors at the U had one in his office. Oh yeah, that was Hercules of course, way before VGA and all this color stuff.
Denmark SUCKS. Their infrastructure is nothing like what you can find in other Scandinavian countries. The problem is that TeleDanmark is a monopoly. The state has done nothing to open up competition. You pretty much have to sell your liver just to get ADSL. Even dialing with a modem will rake up such high telephone bills that the average person with a normal 68% tax rate cannot afford.
I say support Adobe who has always made best of class software and boycott companies that sell hacking and cracking tools at $100 a pop.
If it wasnt for large companies like Adobe who make great programs and instead we had to rely on programmers writing software for free in the evenings we would still be in the computing stone age.
Come on people, why is everybody defending Dmitry Sklyarov ? He found a way to crack and steal something and was SELLING this technology.
This is quite different from finding a flaw in an encryption scheme and notifying the company responsible for it and the public. This guy was making a profit from stealing someone else's product.
This is the same thing as bootlegging CDs and selling them on the street. I support Adobe a 100%.
I wont be happy until I can access my database via DDE ! DDE rulez!
Damm, that's it !!

Your forgot - not only it should run Linux but should be possible to create a beowulf cluster.
