they could have just said, "studies have shown testosterone levels increase in a man winning a chess game." as i'm sure happens just as much if not more in trivial pursuit, connect-4 and well, paper-scissors-rock. this is friggin' obvious. but no, scientists need to sensationalize their pointless studies so as to get more grant money.
oh, right, i get it. underdog OS's for non-mainstream technology which have common names undercut the obsolete Belgian cartooning market. yes, of course. . . heck, why don't we just scrap all that is Unix; a good idea and it was panning out for quite a while and all, but gosh darn it, look how unfair it is!
ok, point taken. it is kde. sorry, i'm an e user. and now that u've wrestled me to the ground i may as well say something that'll make u hate me even more: i don't like kde. (not that e is hot stuff either) man, i don't even want to know what'll happen to my karma now. maybe i should hire a body-guard.
not really. it looks like XP with the icons renamed to "Lindows . .." where are the linux apps? no xterm, no xemacs, nothing. i'm still having trouble seeing that thing thing is for real. and if it is, it'll either be a flaky windows OS with limited linux capability or a flaky linux OS with limited windows capability. i guess you can call me a software nazi: we need pure-bred OS's with balls.
no, i submitted a different screenshot on the same site. how/. screwed it up i'll be darned if i know. check out the REAL screenshot at http://www.eax.com/render/screen.png
those are unfortunately not TRUE translucent menus -- which are however good enough for menus. you see, that theme merely takes a screenshot of the desktop and alpha blends it with the image of the menu to be laid down. since menus are override-redirect there is little chance of the background changing while they are there, which creates the illusion of transparency. (try running an xterm listing out a VERY long file, or compiling somthing, behind it. it won't seem so see-through anymore. the RENDER extension is working on this.
of course you're absolutely right. sorry, wasn't thinking when i was typing. kinda like the guy who thinks his mule is pregnant. gosh, that's a little embarrassing since i'm heavily using SHAPE in my current development. RENDER is only for anti-aliased fonts, alpha blending and soon other geometric thingies (polygons i think). oops.
I love the modern chrome, and refuse to touch other good browsers like opera or konqueror because of their lack of uniformity but . . . can ANYONE tell me why Mozilla is so darn SLOW on linux?!? Is the Windoze version any faster as they claim? Yes, I know Moz is still pre 1.0 but don't you think they stop adding stuff and increase its performance? What is causing the lag? It can't be the renderer?
xkobo . . . need i say more? it features 50 breathtakingly complex levels of interwoven alien pipes of DEATH to be destroyed by only the bravest. and as with all classic games, like pacman, it repeats after level fifty, but faster and dang more difficult. currently on level 209 here. gonna play xkobo till my computer runs out of memory for the levels or i croak. "-cheat" is for grandmothers.
LCD optimizations? what are these, and how can i get them? and are they sexy?
why is this patch HUGE compared to the older one that often gets supplied with the libgdkxft.so that you preload?

Final Fantasy IX will be next!
