There is no way you know anything of the new strandards beeing proposed.
This is the kind of post that just makes me wander how one can build an opinion on so little knowledge
PCI-Express will be 100% hot swapable and should enable PC-CARD like expansion modules on desktops, but on a MUCH smaller formfactor. It also needs about 1/10th of the infrastructure allowing for MUCH smaller/simpler boards
And as far as pissing of the techs, i'm not pissed in any way shape or form.
As a matter of fact, I more than welcome standard cooling on cases so that people will have less of a chance of getting systems that have no chance in helll of cooling properly.
Sincerly, next time, read up on it a bit before posting what you think OTHERS will think of something.
They created the +R so that they wouldnt have to pay the licensing fees associated with -R (which was supposed to be the standard). The manufacturers of +R were also the first ones to create drives that could do both +r AND -r, because the knew that in the long run, -r wasnt going anywhere and that they couldnt just ignore it.
My advice is to go with a pioneer A06 (but last i checked it wasnt out yet) pioneer always made reliable dvd drives, of the -r standard, and their next one is supposed to be able to do it all, like sony's current top of the line. You could also just buy the already available sony model, but from my experience, sony optical drives seem to have a mind of their own and reject totally good media for no reason. I maybe wrong here or maybe i was just plain unlucky, but i had issues with most sony drives i was in contact with. (dont troll about me beeing the problem, that joke is just way too old/easy).

I find it funny that so many of you seem to think this is ok because it is the right thing to do, because saddam tortured and killed many innocent civilians, because he aided terrorists...
I am sorry to say so, but all these things can be said about the US.
They have tortured, or helped in the torture of so many that it is simply too hard to keep track of the number of civilians affected. Think Pinochet.
They have been condemned by the world court as a terrorist state and were fined a hefty amount to pay for the damages, yet they simply ignored the ruling.
They have been using their veto to block every UN resolution to make world law applicable to all.
They have been behind pretty much every dictator in Latin America for the past century.
Think about it for a second, don't you think it is time to apply the same rules to all people, instead of always punishing the weak and the poor(think embargo on Iraq which killed hundreds of thousands of children).
I fail to see how America is the land of the free when any police and or military agency can monitor any civilian at any time without the need to justify itself, when it is illegal for all citizen to really own any given thing they buy(think DMCA) without fear that if they do not use the things they own the way the company wants them to they could be jailed.
I simply think more Americans should start looking at their past, present and future and realize all the pain and suffering they have caused and continue to cause.
But don't take my word for it, there is plenty of literature available on the subject, take Chomsky for instance. Yes, I know, he sometimes is far from impartiality, but don't even take his word for it, look up all the sources he takes time to mention, often times they are government papers.
This war is by far un-necessary. Most wars are. While some say the only reason for France, Germany and Russia to be against this war is because they have quite a few financial ventures in Iraq, I say one needs to look further, has it not crossed your mind that maybe it is because they have experienced war at home that they know that the burden will be on the innocents.
I think this whole subject is extremely complex and needs much attention, and should not simply be summarized in a 2 line comment.
I think it is time the world realized the US is one of the most active terrorist state there is, and that maybe we should try to understand why before we make decisions for others has the US did so many times.
One job I can think of is the one a friend of mine has, he's a Websphere technician, does all his technical support on the phone or by different remote admin solutions. Pays pretty well too, and he actually sends the phone bills to the caller, so he can do this anywhere he can have a SECURE (very important) computer to acess his customer's setup with a handsfree (much easier) phone. But keep in mind, he's got a truck load of certifications so it's just not something you jump into, but maybe with the skills you have there is a variant of his job that would work for you.
Experience will always be good, even if its i a field of absolutly no clear relevance, simply because when you deal with someone who's been around for a while, they no how to go about finding the solution to whatever problem they will encounter. Maybe they wont have a clue of how it could actually be done, but they'll know how it should be analysed.
But hey dont go around thinking i'm some 45 year old who misses the "good old day", heck i'm only 19!!
But i know that every week, when i have supper with my mom and she asks me how my computer is going (or, as she has learned to phrase, what's wrong with windows this week;) ) even if she doesnt know squat about computers, she always views the problem i submit to her from an angle that i would've never thought of.
Experience is and always will be valuable
I know only one and that's that i dont know anything
This is clearly flame bait
