Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't QT now use an open source license?
Actually, SGI was one of the companies which did NOT show up this year. I believe they were originally supposed to be situated where IBM wound up having their booth.
I had a similar experience. The person who was selling the item had quite a few good feedback, and only recently started having problems. He sent me an email requesting payment, and when I did (via paypal), he never sent the item, nor responded to subsequent emails.
Fortunately, the item (a book) was only $6. However, since I didn't want this ass to have my money and not send the item, I opened a complaint with paypal, and after a month, they actually gave me a refund.
His account was also cancelled on ebay, during the auction (unbeknownst to me at the time).
So just because I received a speeding ticket, I now see cops blowing by me on the highway at 90 mph? Wrong.
The officer who gave me my ticket was right - I admit that much, which is why I paid it. I was in the wrong - and I don't hold it against him. But it doesn't excuse the cops I see speeding down the highway at far excessive speeds without lights or sirens. It doesn't excuse the cops who beat Rodney King, either.
Are there good cops? Sure. But they seem to be in short supply.
The police are paid by us, through taxes. They're there to serve us, the public. It should be reasonable for them to expect they *will* be recorded, while serving the public in a public place - even if it only serves as a check for those who abuse their power.
As for Gnome and KDE being wms (window manager) - wrong. They're 'desktop managers'. By default, Gnome uses Enlightenment as it's window manager, and KDE uses kwm as it's window manager.
If you're going to bash software, get your terminology right.
On my NT Workstation box, I can see SMS client - the prcess has SMSAPM32.exe and smss.exe listed, as well as a Systems Management icon under Control Panel. However, this visibility is probably due to my adminstrator access, both locally, and in the domain.
One interesting thing to note about SMS, though - we applied SP 1 to it, and a previously unknown bug appeared (something to do with a certain configuration), where the client began to cause errors on seemingly random machines.

Unfortunately, I don't see anyone else doing the job ESR's doing - advocating Linux on a large scale, in person. In fact, I don't see *you* doing this - I only see you griping about ESR.
> And it's ESR and his > dreams of glory who obstructing the acceptance of the true prime movers, like RMS.
Woah. That's a rather big statement. If you look up at RMS's message, you'll see:
I even occasionally recommend Eric Raymond as a speaker for a business-oriented conference.
That doesn't sound like someone who feels he's being 'obstructed'.
This can be achieved easily. 2.2.x series kernels support putting the console on the serial port. In addition, if you read the man page on lilo.conf(5), there's an option you can add to/etc/lilo.conf to have lilo work over a serial port as well. The only thing you need to worry about is the BIOS - some BIOS's out there (particularly older ones) don't like when a keyboard or video card is missing from the system. It doesn't necessarily help to tell the BIOS not to check for the presense of the hardware, either - when I configured a 486's BIOS to not check for a keyboard, LILO refused to boot. Instead, setting the BIOS to ignore any errors and continue booting seemed to work.
Commercial software licensing has been fscked up for years. Try reading some of those licenses - the end user has little to no rights as it is.
Right now OSS supplants commercial software. Perhaps one day, it will replace it. Due to commercial software's history of being closed, often buggy, and now licensing issues, perhaps this is OSS's time to be in the limelight.
...absolutely rocked! Just came back from seeing the 12:01 am showing (Eastern) - it was excellent.
It was everything I expected, which was a good, fantasy story. Nothing more, nothing less.
My only gripe was how it seemed to parallel the original released trilogy (episodes 4, 5, and 6) a bit too much - you'll see what I mean when you see the movie. Other than that, it was well worth it, and I, for one, will be seeing it again in the theaters.

Correction: no error messages. As for errors, I'd call locking up the system one hell of an error.
Tell that to my SMP box, where 2.4.x still freezes with SMP support. No errors, either.

Do you truly think, that after paying the $20 for this 'developer license', that you'd be allowed to keep your code open source?
So much for working with the open source community.

We're now in the process of removing the client.
Ahh, how I love Open Source...
