  2. Re:Good! on Sun Sued Over H1-B Workers · · Score: 1

Last time I checked, taxing exported jobs is called "taxing foreigners at a higher rate than anyone else."

And the IRS does it. American people under the line of poverty pay no taxes, get social security, food stamps and those things. H1B's under the line of poverty pay a 15% income tax.

In general, any H1B pays more taxes than Americans making the same ammount of money.

The uncertainty principle becomes unnoticeable as the mass and size of an object increase. The uncertainty principle is a consequence of the fact that you use light in order to see things, and in a subatomic scale a photon has enough energy to alter significantly the system being observed.

I was in Argentina last boreal summer. The sudden recovery of the ozone layer was big news there. I went down to the beach for a weak and the sun would not burn your skin nearly as fast as in previous years, when 20 o 25 minutes under a 12pm sun was enough to get a suntan.

  5. Re:Who should teach on Scientific Elites vs. Illiterates · · Score: 1

I think that you make a very good point on that love of teaching and ability to teach are crucial at any level.

On the other side, you should take into consideration that these grade school teachers that might well be OK will introduce children into science and teach them the very first basic concepts.

If they fail to do so, you will find, 13 or 14 years later, great numbers of college freshmen that do terrible in their College Algebra classes, because when they were 7, and they were in grade school, their teacher sucked at explaining math because he or she hated math as well.

Even if grade school subject studies are not very complex, teaching them the right way are a very delicate and crucial task that deserves the dedication of the best people you can get.
