    ALPHABET!

    So, EVERYONE will have to pay me $0.01USD per 100 letters EVER USED out of the Alphabet. For those who are unfamiliar with it, it is represented by these characters:

    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCEDFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUV WX YZ

    Furthermore, I claim the patent for the numbers 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and any combination that can be produced by concatenation of any of those digits.

    That means when you write source code or HTML or XML or anything like that, YOU HAVE TO PAY ME!!

    Hmm...

    You must be kidding. These people spend time writing songs, practicing, performing and recording, expecting to receive income from their efforts.

    Napster's software makes it possible for people to circumvent the traditional path to getting music by making it FREE... so the bands lose revenue.

    I don't give a rip about Metallica or Dr Dre... neither suits my taste. But they DO have a right to receive the money they're due.

    This original post was nonsense, IMO.

    Yes, the Net has opened up new forums for EXCHANGING IDEAS... and Napster allows people to rip them off for free, too.

    So the Net is there to exchange ideas, not to allow, encourage or promote stealing.

    On the bottom of the Court link, there were TWO files you could download of the case... One of them, of course, HAD to be a PDF file, but the other was a... a... WORD PERFECT 6.1 FILE! At least the government has enough sense not to use Microsoft products!
