Why do people like Windows? It's easy to use, and it's powerful enough for the average user. And now with XP, it's great for anyone, novice to professional.

There are in fact other ways in which this differs from Vietnam. In Vietnam, the United States was there to support a friendly government in a foreign country. There was no direct threat to the US people. The Vietcong knew that the US would eventually tire of an ambiguous, ill-conceived war, and they were eventually proven correct.
This war, on the other hand, has very little to do with defending against communism. Unlike Vietnam, we have been struck at home. The danger is in our back yard, and we must fight to protect ourselves from it. 7000 people have died, most of those were Americans. We must now fight to ensure it doesn't happen again.

To those who say "Waah, waah, I have goals and dreams. I want to write a new networking stack. I want to draw pretty pictures. I don't want to hurt the loving Taliban. The terrorists had a tummy-ache, we should give them pepto-bismol!" I have simply this to say. You are ignorant foolish traitors. You say that us hawks are swayed by the media? Do you not understand that you are being swayed by the very people that intend to enslave you? You who say "We should talk with the terrorists!" are the very same people that condemned 6 million Jews to death, and condemned the world to 6 years of the most brutal fighting it has ever seen. Your kind tried talking with Hitler, and see where it got us? The very people that spoke most loudly for negotiations were the very same people that lusted to see Swastikas in London and New York.
So next time you say "We should negotiate!" start growing your beard out, or wearing your veil, or simply commit suicide. These people don't have political aims. They want you conformed, or they want you dead.
Do the world a favor, just declare yourselves on their sides and be done with it.
