I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, in fact it's an excellent thing. But the fact is Safari, Mozilla and MSIE all failed the Acid 2 test when it was released. Using MSIE I see red. lol.
Now Safari passes. And no doubt each would fail several more tough tests. No one test can prove a superior rendering engine, unless it was 10 MB big and tested every [X]HTML/CSS1,2,3/JavaScript specification in various scenarios.
I'm looking foward to getting a Mac Mini and seing how good Safari is. It will also allow me to develop web pages against Safari for the first time.
I'm a Mozilla Suite user myself, but quoting statistics from a site targeted at an audience of web developers who are more likely to use altenative browsers like FireFox is not an accurate representation of the entire world.
I wrote a quick little PHP script that allows me to add/edit/delete bookmarks stored in a MySQL table.
It makes a nice little sidebar for Mozilla and FireFox. Regardless of being at home, work or dual booting to a different Mozilla/FireFox profile, my bookmarks are accessable.
I just went to update Win2003 SP1 and all they offered was the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - April 2005. I'm disappointed at missing my patch fix for this month:-(
You sir, are an idiot. I got a Toshiba Satellite A70 yesterday. It came with WinXP home. I promptly installed Win2k3 Server. After installing the ATI graphical drivers I got BSODs several times (before the Ctrl-Alt-Del box would appear).
I'm a Linux user, and I have had blue screens on every Win OS between 95 and Win2k3 Server. Win 3 used to just freeze or drop back to DOS.
I agree... learning by doing is far a more effective way for me to learn than reading a textbook. Most uses of JavaScript on the web only use a small subset of the ECMA 262 standard.
My tip - learn JavaScript 1.3. MSIE 6 has it, Mozilla has 1.5. And if you teach basic OO principles, learning more hardcore OO languages will be easier for your students.
Indeed, it is very readable and looks pretty good on screen. As a web developer it's usually one of the first fonts to appear in my CSS, along with Arial and Helvetica.
Although, being Slashdot, I feel compelled to mention Gnome's Bitstream Vera fonts. Bitstream Vera Sans looks great on a web page, and Bitstream Vera Sans Mono is a good choice to code with. You can get them as TTF files at the following URL:

Synaptic is quite innovative. It is one of the first things I install on Fedora.
How many similar programs exist on Windows or Mac? It updates installed packages and allows new packages to be installed, whilst resolving dependencies...
A wise man once said: If Debian spent less time encouraging politics and more time developing, packaging and testing, Debian stable would have more up2date software versions.
Guy: Organiser, please schedule 10 minutes this afternoon so I can go to the bathroom and take a crap.
Organiser: Acknowledged. This appointment is scheduled for.... 5:50PM.
Guy: I was hoping for some time before 12 noon.
Organiser: Sorry, you all booked up. [snikers... and all backed up too]
Guy: But I already have a peeper!
Organiser: I do not understand. [Yes, you have nice brown eye protruding from your read-end. For the rest of the day I hope I'm kept in the front pockets of your pants.]
Guy: Right. So what am I scheduled to be doing now?
Organiser: You have a meeting at the unemployment office. [Patethic carbon based life form]
If the image advertisements are on a different server, put the server into/etc/hosts, c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or c:\windows\hosts
eg: 127.0.0.1 ads.server.com
I do this with Slashdot and other sites I visit frequently. It makes the pages load so much faster.
I would not click on the images if I could see them, so I do not feel that I am doing something unethical. In fact I am reducing bandwidth costs because I wouldn't purchase the advertised product/service anyway.
Safari only passed the Acid 2 Test because the developer David Hyatt spent time over two weeks to make it pass.

We rarely (I have only seen it once in 26 years) throw prawns/shrimp on the BBQ and we never drink Fosters either.
Talk about inaccurate stereotypes.
IIS isn't an operating system, it's a web server service.
Mac OS is an operating system.

Adding groups/subfolders is high on my wishlist.
I put my vote on assembly. Sort the men from the boys.
C# is powerful in the right hands, but you loose platform independence. (Mono isn't there yet IMHO)
I'm working at Amex House in Brighton.
:-)
I wouldn't use "high-tech media-savvy" to describe anything I have seen in this town.
I do enjoy free wi-fi at the Thistle Hotel where I am living

I give it 36 hours before some nerd has it talking dirty to him, wearing a dress and too much make-up. Urgh.
And after 36:01, after one minute of loving, the robot will become self aware - and you know how it goes. It doesn't end well for the humans.
Unless she turns out like my little sister, a working girl with drug/alcohol addictions. Too much scholastic pressure can do that.

I give it two months before someone can boot Linux on it, and in 6 months they could do it without needing to solder...
I for one, welcome our new Skynet overlords.
Damn beer fingers. DX2 not DH2...
PS: Comes with 10 mbps ethernet and sound card (both are those new ISA cards, believe it or not). Available for a limited time only!
I can give you a 486 DH2 66 MHz with 16 GB of memory. Oh wait that's 16 MB. Sorry, my bad.

I forgot who said it. Doesn't matter anyway.
BSD will only run on dead iPods.
Now please wash your potty-mouth out with soap, detergent or caustic soda.
