  1. Say NO to cersorship on Civil Liberties And The New Reality · · Score: 1
    The world has had problems with terrorists for hundreds of years in one form or another.
    This isn't some new thing brought about by encryption/free speach/gunpowder/airliners.

    If anything encouraging free speach will help prevent terrorism. If extreamists are allowed to sprout there crap freely then they won't feal the need to kill people to get our attention.

    Example: In the UK free speach/assosiation laws allow the existance of Nazi scumbags. Result, Nazis talk there crap and nobody pays them any attention.
    In Germany Nazis are outlawed. Result, big problems with Neo-Nazis, Nazis look glamerous to some and have a large membership. Hostels for imigrants attacked.

    Remember Voltare?
    "I disprove of what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it"

    If we give up our rights then the terrorists have won

  2. WAP... Compare in to FORTRAN ! on WAP Bashing · · Score: 1
    Yes WAP is well designed and great for providing those snippets of information that you need
    Noboby uses it

    Fortran 90 is the fastest and best language for mathematical modelling
    Nobody uses it

    Why I hear you ask?
    1) In both cases there exists something that is a little bit slower or incovinient, but much easier and cheaper for a novice to use
    Fortran --> mathcad / C++
    WAP --> newspaper / radio /phone

    2) Everybody thinks it is crap or obsolite, the result being that those that might have a use for it ignore it

    3) People who do use it get discouraged and critisise it when they try using it for something inapropriate. (A bit like entering the great shark in the dune buggey race)

    WAP like fortran has a time and a place

  3. Eh? on ClearChannel Plays It Safe · · Score: 2, Insightful

    The list to me reads like some bloody good rock music. Sabbath, Floyd, Queen etc. Dare I be so cynical as to say that this is just a lame attempt for stations to push the latest manufactured crap?
