The German language is far from practical when it comes to writing. Let's compare the sibilants, for example:
In German, you have the CH in "Krach" for one phoneme which is written as X in Cyrillic.
You have the SCH in "Schneid", which corresponds to on Cyrillic character as well.
The TSCH in "Matsch" is once again only one letter in Cyrillic.
In other words: Where you type only one key in Cyrillic you have to type two to three in German.;-)
The point is that you don't need that in Cyrillic. You have the letters you need and you don't have those, which are not needed. It fits to their language (Slavic). The Latin character sets don't. Thus you require those crutches (diacritics).
You can write any language in any alphabet, with crutches. You could even pick Katakana and add a few apostrophes. It doesn't improve things, however.
Kazakhstan is making a silly thing, dictated from above for political reasons. It's not like the Korean approach, where they tried to figure out something better. This is just gonna suck. The people will suffer.
... and because of the need for additional keys for the additional characters. You could solve this with dead-keys, but then you would suffer when typing in that language.
My point exactly. They are a pain to write or type. If you have a keyboard with 'umlauts' it is usually no fun to program on it (Javascript, f.e.). The needed brackets { } [ ] become accessible only via the right alt-key or crap like that...
Like you figured out, you only have a fake Latin character set as slashdot ate some of your add-on characters without a warning. It sucks.
The Slavic languages have a few phonemes, which aren't included in 'the western alphabet'. Let's take Polish as an example. They have nine additions to the letters of the basic Latin script. I would quote them here, but guess what - even slashdot doesn't like'em:
How else would they manage to keep this up?
Constant distraction, divide and conquer (there has to be an enemy – always), continuous buttering up by the media...
Even then, occasionally somebody sets out to make the world a better place. That's what they fear. They want to be able to stop it, before it becomes a dynamic movement.
Don't we need really fat 'cancer' labels on cars then - and I mean every car, even the electric ones (tires)? No wait, they got an even fatter lobby.:-(
You have to admit that the x86 32-bit processors where really only 16-bit processors by design. They were about ten years behind when they got 'elected' by IBM.
With AMD64 the situation has improved. They look more like 32-bit processors nowadays.
About every year we had some extensions, which became obsolete a year-and-a-half later. The result of this policy is that most software doesn't make use of those 'nifty' extensions.
We are seeing now that Intel cheated. They did cut corners, and they did run red lights. They looked at the MMU as if it were a zit they could simply ignore while shaving. Meltdown cuts down the performance significantly. More appears to be coming.
I'm exited to find out how much will be revealed in the end. If it rains down badly, all those processors will only be usable in single-user systems. MS-DOS is calling...;-)
X86 isn't that bad. It's easier to decode than many other architectures,...
You gotta be kidding me! I can't think of a more fucked-up architecture. Redundant and obsolete instructions keep piling up just to be replaced by soon-to-be outdated instructions.
It's a fucking mess!
Nope, there's not.
Technically the processors don't even belong to the customers. Intel still maintains full control over them, granting their buyers/users only very little of the same.
Unfortunately they also give full control over your management engine to others, if they want to. This machine (running MINIX on a power-efficient core) can then do - literally - anything behind your back, as you have no possibility to check what it is doing (which is exactly the way they want it to be)...
This is what we call a 'workaround'.
If somebody beats you up every time you go to the supermarket, the fix would be to get this slugger arrested. Now you can go to the supermarket without a hassle.
The alternative would be to walk around the block and avoid that battler. This is what Intel has chosen as their 'solution'. I'm not judging, I'm merely pointing out the difference.
Hopefully! You can hardly make it any more obvious than Krzanich. On top of it he lied and was caught doing so, too. What more could they possibly need against him?
FRANKFURT, March 12 (Reuters) - German financial watchdog Bafin said on Monday that short-seller Viceroy Research breached German securities law with a research report on ProSiebenSat.1 as it did not notify the regulator of its activities.
Under German law, any entity that is not a securities firm, a fund manager, an EU administrative firm or an investment company that intends to publish recommendations on investments in assets must notify Bafin ahead of time, it said.
It also said Viceroy’s website did not contain information on where the company was based.
ProSieben last week rejected a critical report by Viceroy that led to a drop in its share price by as much as 9 percent, saying the allegations of questionable accounting contained in it were“unfounded and distorting reality”. (Reporting by Maria Sheahan Editing by Arno Schuetze)
It was a 'fight' to get rid of imperial systems, which made no sense whatsoever. Now we got mm, cm, m, km; kg, g, mg – degrees in Celsius and so on... Our "time system" is still fucked up, however. We still got those stupid months, where roman emperors decided to name them after themselves and take away days from other months to make 'their' month bigger/more important.
"Daylight Saving Time"? There were times where people got up when the bells rang. Those times are long gone. Either model the time after the rise of the sun (then this one hour isn't gonna cut the cheese) or have a fixed time. What we have now doesn't make any sense. It does neither A, nor B. It just plain sucks and was likely invented, because somebody saw a way to profit from this crap.
Everybody who ever grappled with driver BLOBs knows that Qualcomm* 'has an open heart' for people coming in via radio. This allows agencies to take over your phone easily via GPRS/LTE using an IMSI-catcher or simply by getting hooked in-between "by law" (after all, your're a potential terrorist).
Now if Broadcom takes over Qualcomm this could jeopardize their neat back doors. Makes you want to cry, doesn't it?:-P
Write me an "H" in Cyrillic.
They don't have them in their language(s). That's the whole point. Cyrillic fits to Slavic languages, which makes sense.

...In my country W, X an Y are not even used in a standard language.
Exactly! This is because the alphabet you are using for writing doesn't fit to your spoken language. ;-)
Oh my Gawd! Not again:
:-P

You can tell what they think about their population, when they sell them off as dumb - again and again the very same way.

This is painful in both reading and writing. It just plain sucks. It is always an imperfect 'add-on', something improvised...
Newsflash: They've been fucking you/us forever - and they prefer it that way.

You can die by drinking too much water. Still, not that scary.
Yes.
It's okay. Who wants updates anyway? ### REFUND ### is the word! ;-)

I can't believe this is still being spread...
Up next, Intel's CEO?

Looks like somebody has shortened AMD stocks. This should be under investigation soon.

If everyone had a hybris his size, we would need 17.4 universes just to fit them all in.
