Interesting how you respond both to the article and my comment in yours. Your point regarding ownership is well made and taken. I was just recalling hairball speculations have been made before and asking others to see connections. However, sigh, you got 2 points, I got none -- you win.
Give me a break. Why always the track? Heinlein explore at least two alternatives
The design expressed in "The Roads Must Roll" and
The road system in "If This Goes On..." The first is a Maintenance Nightmare, the second proposes the smart highway/smart vehicle system in which a driver can allow the system to drive the vehicle or drive the vehicle manually. Any design which imposes a mandatory track and vehicle configuration such as that depicted in the article is a hole into which one can through one's money. Kind of like Samuel Clemens investment in the 18,000+ part typesetter, which subsequently bankrupted him.
... on this "Angry" crap site. The domain owner Jonathan Goodyear is up past his eyeballs with Micro$hit. His company is named "ASPsoft" -- get it? He owes his living to Bill Gates. Which way ya think he's gonna lean?
Arf, arf
IMNSHO, until Gill Bates is put into a cell with a 330-lb guy named "Bubba", who takes an unnatural liking to the terminus of Gill's alimentary canal, and calls Gill "Mary", justice has not been served.
My last job I ran a Solaris/Irix/Linux/WinXX/MacOS development shop. We were constantly battling with the WinXX bigots which passed for an IT shop. They were definitely intimidated and resentful of us but frankly, they asked for it, being so snotty and proud of their one trick pony Windoze. Sheesh!
"Cat got your tongue? (something important seems to be missing from your comment... like the body or the subject!)" -- Come on, gimme a break. Your software stomps all over my creative license. Like, if I have to get a license for my palm, will I have to pay a per use fee for beating off?
... is that EVERYONE wouldn't have a Windoze PC at home if BUSINESS and GOVERNMENT hadn't "standardized" (read: "Gone Whole Pig") on 'Doze... and why did they standardize on 'Doze on Intel? Because they were fscking CHEAP, IBM handed them the keys to the kingdom, and M$ marketing would make the Nationalsozialistische deutsche Arbeiter-Partei drool in awe!
Duh
My, my, my... what a ugly batch of English, Anonymous Coward that you are. This is Slashdot, do you even have a hope of buying a clue as to what it represents?
One particular Admiral had a major woodie for Bill Gates' junk a number of years ago... AND despite the fact that a Neanderthal Technology server shut down (with NO restart capability) the entire power plant of a Navy warship, which then had to be TOWED back into port... the Navy can't be collectively THAT STUPID, can they?
geez: "I hadda schiddy Mac experience (because I don't know whaddafsck I'm doing)"...
PC heads just don't get it. They're used to driving Fords and think that a BMW is a peezaschidt. Most of them haven't even driven Sun, SGI, HP, or a DEC Alpha either. They'd probably have a schiddy experience with them too.
Come on. Get a grip. He's not the $B he is because his products are truly affordable to the world.
Geez
Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted! Reason: You can type more than that for your comment.
I recommend Beer be included. Doesn't get the job done any faster or better, but you could care less.
I saw the headline and thought it was something about Resident Shrub and his delusions.
IMNSHO, those that do not practice any religion/pagan rites/etcetera seem to be the most enlightened.

you state:
"version of Windows XP (or whatever the next version will be called)"
I recommend "Windoze ES", for Eat Shit. After all, it's what they've told the gummint.
Kind of like: Eat Shit -- 10 Billion Flies (95% Market Share) Can't Be All Wrong
... your information is out of date. Bill Gates is NOT the devil, but there was a hostile take over of Hell some time ago. Satan now works for Bill.
... Anonymous Cowards come? Uranus?

That was my point (-: Irony :-), friend. If you (and the moderator) were to re-read my statement as intended ...

Yeah, and it's the mechanic's fault when I take my p.o.s. car into the shop to fix a poorly designed part. Arf, arf, arf.
