Contracts are only part of the issue. Relationships matter more... The only job in my life I've ever been 'fired' from involved precisely this issue.
I was contracted to write some simulation dynamics engine. I placed clear headers in each source file indicating that although I was liberally licensing the code to my employer for his use, I retained full ownership of the source code, and I reserved the right to file a claim if my employer turned around and sold or misused the software I wrote without my consent.
This came as a shock to my employer as he thought I was being unreasonable. The fact is that the law was on my side. When he realized that, he fired me.
about the Sun linux distribution, do you plan to make it available at large? or do you plan to continue bundling it with Sun products only?
Either way hopefully (for me) the distro continue to be highly RedHat compatible.
The RIAA numbers must evidently tell them that for the time being they can make more money by throwing armies of lawyers at the problem. Can anyone guess how long it will take them to switch to adapting to the new reality and distributing ALL music for low cost? How does it go? Denial->Anger->Resignation->Acceptance...
Garbage from miscrosoft should be posted on the microsoft web site. Not here.
The only solution that will work for users and the industry in the long run is to break up microsoft into 3 parts (OS, PC apps, consumer elctronics crap).
How many more companies does microsoft need to trample by illegal means before the JD wakes up?
It makes me ashsmed to be a registered republican.
Yes but will it continue to be more so? (stable & scalable). If sun phases-out pure solaris and merges linux into solaris it seems to me that solaris stability/scalability will always be >= that for Linux. Will Sun make linux run better on Sparc than on intel?
You are 100% correct ArtemaOne. What I can't figure out is why the frok is this so difficult to understand.

Last summer we ported our GPS receiver client to their Mizi embedded linux platform. I cant wait to see it in production.
a shot at some good PR. They want to be able to claim that 'we are not backward, see we support P2P after all'. Dont buy CDs from RIAA artists!

I agree with you 100%. And for that I will no doubt be moded as a troll. What Fun!! LOL.
