    Is that all these costs are directly the fault of Microsoft. The VBS worms are made possible by Microsoft's MUA design, and the other kinds of viruses are made possible by Microsoft's everyone-and-their-grandma-is-root OS design policy.

    Now ask yourself: which would cost more? Using MS operating systems, or contracting a team of programmers to write all the software you need for a 'nix system?

    It would also not subtly rearrange the letters in words such as "colour", "favourite", "centre", etc.

    As a side note, I think some words should be expanded. "Centre" could be an organization (eg. "Medical Centre", "Centre for Disease Control"), while "center" could be a point (eg. "the center of the circle").

    Wrong! Think long-term: If a web designer knows that 50%+ of his audience is going to be annoyed by his site, he'll make a clean page.

    The e-mail thing is cool, but it would just result in every hostmaster redirecting all mail to webmaster to /dev/null.

    Oh shut up you troll. I never once said I don't also drive a little over the speed limit. My point was what the guy I was defending said was valid, and that increasing driving speed linearly decreases control and survival rate exponentially.

    I don't know what it stands for, but HOV lanes are also known as "carpool lanes", "bus lanes", "more than 2 people per vehicle lanes", etc.

    He never said that. He said people with inflated views of their abilities are dangerous. That is true.

    Also, considering your chances of survival decline exponentially with increasing speeds, driving 5 mph over the speed limit likely will mean the difference between life and death of you, the people in the other car, or your passenger(s).

    Please, before you kill somebody, sell your car and buy a bus pass.

    Multi-processor builds are faster because make (with the -j option) compiles several files in parallel (idealy, one per processor), not because data is piped from stage to stage in the compiler.

    Or because it does pipe data from stage to stage without having to context-switch back and forth.

    What about if all list traffic is automatically forwarded "out" after 48 hours? Then they still have to bust their heads to fix the bug, but they get the time they need before a rootkit comes out.
