    Its "been time" for a while now. I have been running FreeBSD as a desktop for many years.

    Now i do admit my hardware is not bleeding edge, and wifi has always been a PITA for laptops.. but its always been usable for more than just the backroom, just not a lot have noticed..

    How about they offer a download for that ( updated daily or hourly )? Perhaps break it down by category so the files are manageable. This could be distributed in any number of ways to get around blockages that are starting to occur.

    ( Not that i actually use TPB so it doesn't effect me directly, its too full of garbage and viruses, and i don't use commercial software/content, but i do support why they are doing )

    If that were only true. he will find some suckers that will 'invest' in his project. He will make a bunch of money and vanish. Remember there is a sucker born every minute. The only trick is finding them and parting them with their cash with the proper 'smoke and mirrors'.

    1 - Ever hear of the crusades? More people have died due to that 'action' than other 'wars'. Oh that's right if its FOR your particular god its ok. But if its for the other guy's god, its bad. Gotta love hypocrisy.

    2 - In wars, this is how it works. People die. Hopefully the enemy. All of them.

    Bunch of damned pansys around here today.

    Booting from a live CD bypasses that completely

    But it wont bypass the encryption, if its setup properly. The true reason those things are there. We do the same thing at the office, full disk encryption. So even if you get past the bios restrictions and can boot it and 'see' the drive, you wont be getting data off ice.

    I personally feel we can butt in to another countries business if they are violating basic human rights. As we all live on the same planet there are some base level standards and the rest of the world should intervene when those lines are crossed.

    Now that said, is free speech a basic right? Perhaps, but internet use sure isn't.

    Don't put it past them. They can always create their own intranet, with monitored/restricted portals to the global internet. ( or no connection with the outside at all )

    So you are going to make your own chips and boards? get real, even when you thin you are 'building' a computer you aren't. by a long shot. You are just assembling one, which will come with all these 'security' measures enabled on the board.

    Sure, today you can choose less restrictive boards, but that wont last forever.

    Sued yes, but lose? Look what happened last time? They got fined what amounted to be lunch money and the increased market share gained by the practice far outweighed the loss, even in the short term.

    The industry funding the laws, and the congress that are going to pass them, really cant see beyond their pocket book and feel that any industry ( or people ) that are harmed are just collateral damage, and really don't give a damn.

    Write to your Congressman urging them to stop this.

    Just be sure to include a hefty 'campaign donation' or you might as well just toss it in the trash, as that is what they will do. They no longer represent us common citizen.
