    This trash was not part of the *original* Omni, but what it became towards the bitter end. When Omni finally closed up shop it was a shadow of what it was in the early days, and long overdue.

    Ill check it out of course, but ill hold hopes until i see if they can recover the old magic. I doubt they pull it off.

    1 - "Because you can" is a good enough reason.
    2 - Just because you can make one here out of steel legally doesn't mean you will be able to tomorrow. It also takes more skill and effort to do it the 'right' way.. Anyone can download a file, press "print" and yank a finished object out of a printer.
    3 - If you can manage to print things that can take the wear and tear of being a weapon, it advances the technology for use in other fields too.

    So what happened to assumed innocent and targeted court orders? Just because TOR can be used in bad ways doesn't mean you have to.

    If they do this, why not just track every car and what is in it? Mount GPS and cameras in every car.

    That is still a security problem. You want end-to-end encryption on the client, and not store it somewhere else, even encrypted.

    Not in the least. Just because you don't have an attention span long enough to read past a 4 word tweet doesn't mean the rest of us doesn't.

    Sure, email isn't appropriate for everything ( never was, that's why god made telephones and meetings ) but its still appropriate for many things, especially in the business world.

    As mentioned above, i'm not talking about the 'raw' device as shipped, i'm talking about people that want to hack into it and spend the time and trouble figuring out how.

    If you want to hack something, why not choose something more hack friendly?

    If all you want to do is use it, then perhaps it is a better choice. ( until i see one, ill hold judgement )

    But 'home users' wont be going out and trying to load an alternative OS on their device. Those that will want to do this know about the more open alternatives.

    My comments are about why bother 'rooting' it, not using it.
