Huh? 15k???? Maybe for a rackmount unit or something... but PC DVD-RAM drives start at about $370.00... That's for an internal Toshiba scsi drive... as for copying DVDs, even with the drive it will still be a while... and then there are the legal issues... but I'm sure you were just referring to making backups of your disks ;-)
I have an IBM Thinkpad 570 with the ultrabase/dock and the DVD player for that has no problems at all... now the movie Sneakers, thats another story...
Sorry, I have the 640/90 ADSL and while its not amazingly fast for my web server it is not horrible... (note: taliesin.cx is not currently on this box, I'm experimenting with the home server)
And you can bet that removing the A from ADSL would include adding a 0 to the end of the price. You see, the phone cos have no reason to canabalize their leased line services for servers.
Yes, in fact there are going to be several loosely related books in the same vein... and the second book is well underway, according to Stephenson at his book signing in Pittsburgh, PA (I had the pleasure of attending and talking with him for a few moments after the signing)
This is an excellent book well worth the cost and time to read...
And did you explain to them that unlike some software companies who shall remain nameless we believe in actually progressing through version numbers as opposed to incrementing them at random for marketing reasons;-)
I wouldn't hold my breath on this... I have emails from nVidia stating they were going to release TNT hardware specs from October or November 1998 and that still hasn't materialized... so I'll believe it when I see functioning software...
Now if they had only made it (and the K6-2) able to do SMP... Imagine if you will a quad CPU system running K6-III 400Mhz chips... (400 because the 450s are still a little steep in price)...
Ah well, I can dream while I save up for a K-7 system when they come out;-)
You know, I've been running AMD chips for the last two years and have never had a single problem. And I still get people asking me if I trust the AMD chips instead of Intel. I am sick beyond belief of the "Intel is the real x86" garbage, especially when Intel releases a chip like the PIII that is all hype and no performance and then pushes it with with idiotic commercials saying it will "Make the Internet more fun." WTF!?!?? Get a grip, Intel is not the only CPU manufacturer that has a clue.

actually the price isn't bad considering the
current VIAO headsets go for either $2499 or
$2599 list... I may actually pick up a pair of
these...

Sounds good, and their material looks decently thought out, but damn is that site ugly (IMHO)...
something needs to be done about the color scheme...
