How about a co-op record label that is owned and operated by the artists, who retain rights to their work, collect and distribute their own royalties, manage their own management team, are independent of the RIAA, and allow people/customers to do what they want with the purchased music. This would make the RIAA and the record labels it represents irrelevant. Yes?
Perhaps this is one of the reasons Microsoft is so afraid of Linux... they won't be able to steal new and innovative code because of the GPL. Microsoft won't be able to embrace, extend and destroy anything as they've done with everything else. As new systems and tools are designed and first released thru Linux, Microsoft won't be able to steal it. If they do (did?), they'll have to release their precious proprietary code. Hmmm... I wonder what's already under the hood.
I'm currently looking for a new PC and have found that no major manufacturer (Dell, IBM, Compaq, HP) will sell a PC without WindowsXP. I knew Dell *was* installing Red Hat, but apparently only for business systems. You would think that at least IBM, who are backing Linux, would offer a PC without Windows, but no. I'd be happy if the settlement gave the manufacturers the freedom to provide PCs with OSs other than MS or even without an OS. I don't feel like paying for MS software that I'll never use.
My DVD player is my CD player. If the official music CD doesn't play on my system, then I'm going to burn a ripped copy. So, they can either release a CD that is compatible and I'll pay for it, or not.

Just because you have a collection of porn of a particular girl does not make her your girlfriend... would make a great sig.
