Crystallography produces a static 3D stucture of a molecule. These simulations produce the motion of the atoms within the molecule. These techinques are complimentary, not in competition. Even as the speed of computers and the level of theory increase, similiar advances may occur in the crystallographic field.
I agree, however, the results in this paper are not earth shattering, but this is foundation for future work.
As a computational chemist and given the nature of this forum, I must say it: "where is the source code?" Applications of this phase space sampling technique (IMHO, one of the best) extend to every molecule, not just proteins. I'd love to play with it and compare with any given MD simulation.
...most Phd students at this only had 1 or 2 publications before their thesis, whereas in neighboring labs they totalled 50 or more...
I don't remember where I saw any figures, but a look in your local science journal library will show you the number of publications/journals each year is skyrocketing. Luckily, today there are computers to help us sort through all that is being published. There is way too much emphasis on number of publications. That is personally I'd rather have 2 meaty papers than 50 say repeating the same technique on a variety of different compounds. If your adviser won't let you publish, then something is wrong. Change your research so it matches his or her criteria or get a new advisor.
Likewise, just because you say it exists and is "extremely" compelling doesn't mean it exists .

UN Says Ozone Hole Above Antarctic
By Alexander G. Higgins

September 7, 1998
The hole in the ozone layer over the South Pole is expected to be as big this year as it has ever been since measurements began several years ago, the World Meteorological Organization said Monday.
*end quotes*
just as big as ever = static - no change, caused by humans or otherwise
is there any evidence that the ozone hole hasn't been there since the beginning of time? The size of the ozone hole is seasonal. Ozone molecules once released from factories, cars, volcanos, etc. does not instinctively set a course for 15km above Antarticia.
because cars run on gasoline. and gasoline stations are everywhere. they employ millions of people. the same shortages/problems could exist for any power source.
This seems to be the ranting of a man who has lost all control and doesn't know what's to blame. I suggest Seagram shareholders, if any, panic Monday morning.

I'd rather be scum than self righteous. Have you ever pressed the record button on your VCR?
Perhaps you don't understand the oppression and rape of the artist by capitalism. Perhaps you have never created anything yourself and will never understand.
possibly Frank Lloyd Wright's best work, open to the public for tours. About an hour southeast of Pittsburgh. www.wpconline.org/fallingwaterhome.htm
you think people actually donate money for something that's free? for a warez site even? where the whole point is not paying?
seriously, what the hell are you talking about? what grift? what server? what cash? what money?
and the code is out there, mind you
it seems the money is going to Apple and the RIAA, not artists. Just adding another middleman. Who said artists are getting anything out of this?
The sex pistols were a shameless industry ripoff of the Ramones repackaged with a psuedoshocking name. Let's hear it for corporate music. woot.

how do you propose artists make a living in this new world order?
i would suggest we, artists, continue to be creative and produce. the day of riding one achievement out for the rest of our lives is over.
Also, perhaps we could "perform" and "teach".
Northern Canada is so dark that the researchers forgot it existed.
i think honda owns mazda. perhaps you fell right into their little plan. then again, you probably knew that you tricky consumer you.
