The FreeBSD OpenOffice port is badly broken. And indeed, the Linux binaries don't work either. If you had ever tried OpenOffice under FreeBSD you would have known this!
Although I am big FreeBSD fan i find not being able to run OpenOffice very annoying, even more so since it runs fine on my Windows box!
