great idea - I use slashdot as a central news source. So why won't they start posting when suits are on sale at Macy's and what the weather will be next week?
Maybe they can start posting personal ads "guy seeking fat, longhaired guy for taco snotting - no smokers" That would save time for all you linux freaks.
how much lower can you go. This is like posting a story everytime microsoft puts out a patch. Or everytime katz kidnaps a small child. All of those things happen too often to report each and every case.

this article is no surprise at all - the loser they talk to is an aggie. the fact he has a job that does not involve sex with animals should be considered a moral victory.
I often find that those slinging about comments like "the US Supreme Court decided the election" have very little understanding of the law or all the of legal decisions in the election contest.
You say it is your duty to study these things and I agree - I asked if you read the florida supreme court decisions and I assume the answer is no. Why not? If the U.S. Supreme Court had not thrown out the Florida Supreme court decisions, then it would have been that court deciding the election. That Florida supreme court overturned a district courts judge's decision on the facts of the case - another situation where understanding the legal system would allow you to understand how out of the ordinary their decision was in that case. That is my point about law school - there are rules to the game and you have to know them to fully appreciate what went on.
Go read the dissenting opinion of the Democratic Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme court in their final decision, then you can start to understand a little more about the overall case. He predicted that the US supreme court would overturn the Florida Supreme Court decision.
you were talking about the florida supreme court, right? dumbass - did you go to law school? have you studied election law? did you read the florida supreme court decisions? thought not.
In my year plus here - I have found government IT to be a mixed bag. A lot of typical open sores guys - smelly, dress like bums, hide in a dirty office down the hall. If you handle them right they can do whatever you need.
I think a good number of them are serial killers. Seriously - a DC government job is the perfect spot for it. You can come in, work weird hours like 6am - 3pm or 10am-7pm with a day a week off, and a few years a go literally 60% of DC murders were unsolved.
There are also a lot of former financial types who are IT managers - they were the only ones using computers in government when the PC revolution happened so they just got the job by default. A lot of those guys are way out of their league. And there are actually a much larger number of women in tech here in the government - still not a lot but more than I ever saw in private sector. This is mainly because tech is a good way that you can quickly get more pay here and they always need people.
As for pay, it is not near what you could get in the private sector in most tech firms; the goverment has a very screwed up pay scale so that experienced technical people often either have to go into a more managerial role or they just can't get more money. There are no real senior technical posts, at least in terms of pay. The genius scientist types that do work for the government generally are on contract or work off of grants - they would not function well under the traditional civil service environment I think. Possibly the NSA types are a little different from this.
warning - this is a rare ontopic post. Do not mod up - you may accidentally give me positive karma.
as a dedicated n. virginia crapflooder and government IT slob, I can tell you that a lot of people in the gov't are giving open sores a look. New projects and things are constantly getting piled on but no money to do them - no one has money to pay the ms licenses everytime you need a new server.
the problems are that some of the people here whore themselves out to the many vendors and the vendors want everyone to buy their proprietary crap so that no one else can come in when they start slacking off on support.
I pimp open sores solutions when and where I can - a lot of the ground level tech guys use it whenever they can. As money for non homeland defense dollars get squeezed and MS keeps increasing their licensing war, more government IT people will start moving to open sores.
