My perception - as pretty much an outsider - is that it seems more important for the loyal Linux writers to add capability and refinement rather that ease of instalation and utilization for us ignorant sorts. I'd sure rather be wrong about this.

Excuse the whisper, BUT installing Mac systems is not that hard. What does on occasion get tricky is getting all of your old apps to work with said system.
For 600 kilobucks we can get you a full farm in many parts of Wisconsin - complete with the dairy herd! I will suggest that some of the Silicon valley folk should move operations to La Crosse. Sanity would be a probable byproduct
