  1. Re:Solar power is the real answer. on 'No Quick Fix' From Nuclear Power · · Score: 1

Earth's core only remains at the current temperatures because it is heated by the sun. If the sun were to stop shining tonight, tomorrow we would all be on a frozen rock. So the planet is, in effect a heatsink, absorbing the energy that is radiated by the sun and dissipating it.

Why burn coals? Wouldn't it be cheaper just to build a few wind turbines and drive electrolyzers directly with those, rather than setting up a coal power plant and paying for coal (and the mining of it)? Is it just me, or is everyone here really hooked on fossil fuels? ;)

  5. Re:Some REAL points about hydrogen on Fuel-cell Vehicles for Americans · · Score: 1

I do, provided the energy used to power the electrolysis comes from renewables. You invest in a windmill park and some electrolyzers, storage tanks and transportation infrastructure (+ maintenance), and you get fuel without having to pay directly for the energy you used to create it.

The heat comes from the direct conversion of electrical energy to heat inside the chip. Almost every other electrical appliance converts the electrical energy. For instance a light bulb converts it to heat and light. A drill converts it to mechanical energy. The CPU however doesn't physically do anything, the transistors just flip which requires electrical energy, which is afterwards converted into: heat! That's why every bit of energy that goes into your CPU will come out again under the form of heat, which we need to get rid of to keep the chip working.

And do you think end users installing a Xeon will give a rats ass that it uses 36 bits addressing? Opteron uses 40 bits for the record ;) Those major improvements you are seeing are more likely related to the extra registers and other tweaks AMD provides in 64 bits mode. I'm not an Intel fanboy, I'm just trying to get you people to understand that there is no magic going on here ;) 64 bits means mostly bigger address space, and do they deliver? Yes they do. Intel slams on some extra hardware, so does AMD, end of story.

If you consider AMD64 to be "true 64 bits", then so is EMT64. They are both just an extension of the 32-bit instruction set and processing units with 64-bit equivalents. Don't think AMD is so moch more innovative than Intel, they just grabbed good ole K7, stuck some goodies on there and called it K8. In other words, they both need a good smacking.

Ever smelled that smell.. smelly feet? Where do you think that comes from? It's nothing but toxins trying to exit your body... You sweat about half a pint per foot per day, and those shoes just absorb it while your body heat keeps it warm. That must be very healthy, no wonder it smells so good. Why do people have deformed feet, bear claws so to speak? It's because their shoes keep their feet in a specific form, the shape of the shoe. How many people are there that don't have the 4th and/or 5th toe curled down, because it is stuck in a shoe? My grandmother had seriously deformed feet because she wore high heels her entire life. Meanwhile, acupuncture uses your feet to control so many variables. The deformed nature of your feet changes your entire posture, which can create stress on specific organs. Go take a look at the pictures in the article, it's surprising ;)
