Read the article It says that to generate electricity it needs to be formulated differently. So you get a display or a solar cell, not both. But, maybe they can work on an new proccess that does both.
So we can set up 802.11b networks on airplanes, but we can't use cell phones.
I've worked and programmed the symbol ones, to do this very thing (w/o the GPS). They work great. You should be able to do it with a GPS that attaches to the serial port with no problem.
