Totally agree with you. As an european citizen, I find myself absolutely powerless about many political issues regarding technology (e.g. the ICANN problem).I would like to remember to american citizens how they have the power *and the responsibility* to change this fucking world *for the better*.
The USA are the third-millennium version of the Roman empire, like it or not, and as roman citizens you can choose between Republic and Caesar. As it is, you are following a dictator-to-be.
do you mean the JVM shipped with MS Windows? the one running Java 1.1? Is there still someone considering it?:)
If you were talking about Sun's JVM for Windows... well, I think a stripped-down KDE on a well-configured machine could probably run almost anything faster than windows. It's all about the right demo and the right salesman;)
Sorry man, you're not looking in the right direction. Despite all their words and songs, musicians are simple humans. Someone (as Public Enemy, Billy Bragg) will "do the right thing", but all the others will go where the bucks are; that is, where Sony and friends say they must go.
... than any Napster-like-protocols clients as morpheus or Kazaa... it's stable, easy, and on Gnutella protocol you can search anything...
Download Gnucleus and happy downloading :)
The Third World's poverty is not because of capitalism but despite it. If the Third World would get on board, clean up their corrupt governments and change the culture of always wanting a handout, maybe capitalism would work for them.
Did you ever ask yourself why this doesn't happen? Because without 3d world corrupted govts capitalist markets wouldn't ever exist! No more low-cost oil, and diamonds, and gold, and those little one-dollar-week korean and taiwanese workers making all that pretty baseball caps and speedy CPU... and your capitalist IT world becomes ruins.

It's not useless, it's simply not reliable enough from a security pov: almost everyone could crack it in less than an hour (much, much less).
For a good security policy, you should use wep AND other things, like VPN.

In the long term, all of us will be dead. ( Lord Keynes)

For windows, try GNUCLEUS.
:)
Under Gpl, and it works great.
btw, has been used for MyNapster engine. Probably one of the best win-app under GPL ever seen
