Anyway, the true way to stop spam is challange-response for the first message from a new person. Easy to implement, and it dosn't require any software for the sender.
I'm sure this lenses is real, but the submitter is hopelessly confused about the laws of nature and metaphysics. For one thing, metaphysics doesn't really have much to do with real physics at all, but rather refers to thinking about the nature of reality. Questions like "does god exist", "What makes something 'true'", "how can paradoxes exit" etc. Something that violates the laws of nature is supernatural.
And secondly, nothing can violate the laws of physics anyway. If something can't be explained by physics, then it means our theories are wrong, not the thing is 'supernatural' or whatever. Geez.
And to think, my great post about using enzymes to create electricity rather then expensive fuel cells got deleted.

The people who created Gnutella abandoned the project. No one owns the name, and anyone can call anything 'Gnutella2'.
There can never be a 'legitimate' Gnutella2 because there is no 'legitimizer' to bestow legitimacy upon it.
People should allow their protocols to grow on their own, rather then trying to take advantage of a dead name.
It's also very good at removing nuances in speech or facial expressions that prevent listeners from taking offense, or not understanding the joke. It may leave thought, but it may not be the thought you thought you left.

And in any event, most Iraqis have 'economic freedom' in that they, including the women, can do whatever they want as long as they don't directly oppose the government. Iraqis can even legally purchase guns, just like in the US.
Anyway, the US ads far, far more 'fuel' to the Isreal/Palistine situation with billions in aid to the Sharon government --which kills about three times more innocent civilians then suicide bombers do -- then does Saddam with a few thousand dollars to the families of suicide bombers.
Well, for one thing I think you're wrong. I don't think there were a half-million US and British troupes on the ground in Kosovo.
But I think the major reason that there are so many protests is for the same reason France, Germany, Russia and China are so pissed of as well. Because they don't think the war is justified. They think that we have a legitimate call to wage war there. Either we haven't given inspections enough time, or, the threat to our nation is out of proportion with the death and destruction being caused by this war.
I've seen reports repeating Iraqi claims that some 30 people or so died in the initial strikes. But how can they get that info immediately? Those cameras don't show individual bodies...
When people say "funny... That dosn't coincide with what I think". When, in fact it's because they are incorrect. Shock and awe are not something that only happens in range of the cameras on the minstry of information. Even what can be seen from those cameras are quite shocking.

Any solution that requires other people to change their software to email you is not going to work. And I'm certainly not going to pay any money to email someone. A few people might, but the vast majority won't. This system would do far worse with false positives then any filter. And it wouldn't do any better at all then requiring a simple digital signatures anyway!
By the way, one interesting thing about this technology, If it became widespread, it would change society a little. People would solicit email from people to get the cash. If you charged 5, and got 1k emails a day, that would be $50/day or $18,000/year. I could so see people running popular websites asking people to email them to support the site, rather then (or in addition to) advertisements or conventional donations.

All you would need to do would be to run it through a small electrical coil, and amplify the signal that gets induced. The reason the archivist has so much trouble was because he was ignorant, not because it was hard.

The fact that something is formatted for another computer doesn't mean it can't be read on another computer. Of course, a 5.25 inch drive would be a bit harder to make then a wire-recording playback machine, but there are plenty of 5.25 inch drives out there.
But ultimately, how hard is it to keep the hardware if you want to keep the data? It's your own damn fault for throwing out (or whatever) your apple ][.

The whole concept of 'media-death' is the most overblown meme in common use today. The idea that you can't read something because the media format is no longer in common use is insipid. As long as the hardware still exists it can be plugged in or at least reverse-engineered and used. Even if the orgional hardware dosn't exit, the media can be examined directly and reverse-engineered.
Obviously some media degrades physically over time, just like some paper.
Well, you know you can turn off sigs if you want. But it's not like I'm going around posting nothing but advertizing. Seeing a few ads attached to content isn't so bad (IMO). And after all, why should VASoftare get all the advertizing revinue from my comments?

Here in the US, calls all cost the same amount of money regardless of who you call. I've even called people in Canada and not been charged.
