The myths section is intresting. But claims that CD audio is "Perfict" ware a little thin. IIRC while CDs bit depth is 'good enough' for perfict reporduction, it's not for mixing (mix a bunch of 16bit tracks together at 16 bit and you'll end up with a lot less). And the sample rate could be higher, as well.

That's a hell of a bet to make if you're a criminal. There are a reasonable number of remote-root exploits for Linux, and it's possible that they're may be unknown ones out there.

Btw, does anyone know if various spyware programs are explicitly blocked by AV software? It seems that in this day and age there is more of a gradient between 'legitimate' software and 'viruses'. Which I would count any software executing that does not run for the express benefit of the owner of the computer, rather then a program intended to cause harm. I mean, that's like saying the RIAA likes napster because it increases album sales. It may increase album sales, but that doesn't mean they're happy about it. These companies care a lot more about control then they do about money. Control means you know how much money you're going go get. control means you can squeeze people for as much money as they have. Stockholders want instant profits, rather then long-term effectiveness.

If Microsoft can control the method of connection, that means they can charge whatever they want, if they need a bit more money this quarter, they can jack them up like 2 cents or whatever. They don't get that if people connect them themselves, even if they do sell more boxes.
