I don't really see the point of doing something if your average slashdotter can see a way past this easily, and can figure out a way to make it do even worse things to the network.

We should be looking for spam solutions that a) don't have a huge obvious negative impact and b) even if exploited still 'help'.

I'm convinced that Bayesian filters, Reverse MX, and sender verification will pretty much kill all spam these days.

Unless PDFs become the publishing format de-jure, I don't see books being pirated the same way all-digital stuff is. In the worst case you can rip video or audio in real time. With books, you need to sit down and scan every page. With huge releases like Harry Potter, I could see it happening, but it'll never be like the situation with MP3s, where you can get *every* song ever recorded

Could someone explain why people are comparing the Taliban to Al Queda? To my knowledge, the Taliban was a ruling party of a country that had a military as well as all other aspects of governmental control. This would make individuals who helped and served under them solders or agents (spies, commandos, ect...). The Taliban is not a Terrorist Organization. So why are people who helped them being compared and tried as terrorists?

Well, we were at war with them, so attempting to help them would be considered Treason. but the standard of evidence for that is quite high.

If he really wanted to help the Taliban stay in power, then he should be shot. But who knows, maybe he just signed this confession because he didn't want to try to risk the other charges?

The title is "Linux saved my marriage" but in the article she only referrers to her 'boyfriend'. If they were actually married, they would have said 'husband'. Maybe their relationship feels like a marriage but they are not actually married legally, like if they were gay. pjack never indicates her sex in her journal that I found. So unless she posts to clarify, we really have no idea outside of the statistics game. She could be a woman, she could be a woman, and she might not be.
