Following is journal entry from a band out of Boston with a substantial fan-base and touring and recording credentials (reprise, sire, steve lillywhite produced their last album, toured with john mayer, bare naked ladies, dave matthews, etc). Although the entry is pre-napster demise, it still brings valid points from the mouth of a band...and quotes Prince (or is it the Artist formerly known....)
"Here's how much it will cost the airport: $0. The corporate traveler: $0. Joe Traveler: $0, if he has a wireless laptop or handheld; otherwise, $6 to $8 for the day."
But article is titled "Airport to offer free wireless Internet service"???
you all can argue the ethics behind music swapping, but have you ever been signed to a major label? my guess is probably 99.9% of you havent. nor have i, but i know a band on Sire...check out this link http://scribble.nu/x/?u=guster&e=100 from the band's website regarding their stance on music sharing. you'll get a kick out of it. before you get on your soapbox, listen to someone who deals with it as part of their career and not from inside a cubical.
