  1. Re:Not Quite Yet -- No way!! on Microsoft Goes Head-to-Head With IBM · · Score: 1

Aw, you are so full of shit! No WAY is Z/OS a Unix! I love IBM mainframe OS's, and I love Unix too, and I can see that the Unix services in Z/OS are just a compatibility layer. I'm glad they're there, because they make application porting easier, but calling Z/OS Unix-like is an insult to it, completely ignoring its way-older-than-Unix history.

  2. What is power like going up hills? on Hybrid/Electric Vehicles: Should I Buy? · · Score: 1

One thing I wonder about with hybrids is, what happens when you're going up a long hill? My guess is that the engine will use both gas power and electrical power until it's nearly exhausted the battery and has to revert to gas power only. If that is the case, I'd expect the car to slow down once the electric motor's contribution dropped out, or for passing to become a lot more difficult. What have people experienced there? Is my guess correct, or is the system smart enough to avoid that situation (say, by using electric motor for no more than a few seconds at a time, only as supplementation to the gas engine -- in effect saving it for starting and passing)?

  3. I think this might improve my social life on Wrist Watch Camera Now with Color Display · · Score: 1
I bet I'm not the only one who can't remember a name to save his life. (I have been known to forget my lover's name if it's at the end of a round of introductions.) What I do now is keep identifying information ("doctor," "big nose") about everyone in my Clie and do a quick find before I have to say "hi." With pictures will make this so much easier. Yeah, I know it will look hellishly geeky, but the geek factor of snapping pictures with my wrist-cam will be made up for by remembering people's names ... I hope.

(Right, and obviously I agree with an earlier poster, getting them into the Palm will make things even better.)
