You can build an HTPC with a lot more storage than could be easily fit into a normal TivoHD or S3. Assuming they've made Windows stable, this could make one nice high-end Tivo.
However, a TivoHD plus a 1.5TB drive would keep me happy.
A lot of the LiveCD router/firewall distros work on very modest hardware, have traffic shaping features, are easy to setup, and are free. Here are a few.
I spent all last week playing Enemy Territory on Gentoo Linux with my NForce2 motherboard. I get similar framerates to the Windows version of the same game. Why exactly is this patch special?
