Well, obviously damping the vibrations (with books etc) would decrease the volume, but it's not true that you wouldn't be able to achieve stereo sound with a single vibrating body. Different parts of your desk don't have to vibrate in phase or at the same frequency unless it is infinitely stiff, which it isn't.
DERA the British "defence" research agency developed a much better version years ago (technologically, if not financially), where the panel itself was made to vibrate using electronic impulses. More info here.
Interestingly, they were looking for ways to reduce background noise (using anti-noise) when they stumbled across it.
They've been available commercially for years.

STL is part of the standard library. They are not the same thing.

Try searching for "jobs" - wherever you are in the world, you're guaranteed to get an advert for a work agency just above the search results. If you cannot see it, try searching for "glasses"
I have no problem with free software running on MS platforms. If it gets the message that such software is usable, then it is a good thing. Eventually, they might consider using a free OS, too.
If any of the free Office replacements were as good as MS's, then a port to MS-Windows would gain many users.
Also, since they're aiming at binary compatability, the hope is that windows programs would run on Linux.
I used to walk over a bridge with large glass windows, where there was a silhouette of a bird of prey. On the back was a caption that read "this cut-out is here to scare off small birds, which used to fly into the bridge and *subsequently* kill themselves".
I often wondered why, having survived hitting the bridge, they would want to commit suicide. So perhaps they'll do the same on transparent concrete?
Does the fact that everyone else there was 12 not tell you something about your life?
Go on, mod me down.
This should provide adequate sustenance for the Dr Who marathon.
In Brave New World, the British and German governments are brought down by anthrax bombs. Hence the quote: "Liberalism, of course, was dead of anthrax, but all the same you couldn't do things by force."

Online rights is a seminal issue
Do you get the feeling he's let slip the real reason he's interested in this issue?
That's interesting, look further down the page, and there's Possibility of a Warhol Worm: Complete infection in 15 minutes! from August 2001.

C sharp, like the note.

What's to say that that isn't the truth?
