The most bothersome piece of evaluation software that I have used is one where the time limited demo started from the point that the company emailed me the key, because I may not get around to actually installing and using the software for another week or so. And even then I may only get a few hours to play with it. By the time the demo is over, I have only logged a couple of sessions with the software.
I would find a piece of software limited by the number of uses or the number of actual days used to be much more capable of providing a period for proper evaluation.
