Although they say the "economy" is free formed, and over time...its still very open to abuse, i remember in UO where 10 of the top blacksmiths on

my shard plotted to price rocket the armour/wepons industry, it worked for a good 2-3 weeks as well until the undercutters came in...

But yes, MMORPGs can become a economy, as we had trusted brands, fasionable brands, and a decent reliable trade system.

(i refuse to name the blacksmiths or which shard, but if they are reading they may recognise my nickname :))

This isn't exactly new, i remember in the peak of UO where ebay items were rife, Its strange how these online games forge a online economy...i remember in UO where trading was one of the central money earners in the game...the old hack & slash just didn't pull the bucks.

  6. Linux as a threat? on Red Hat And Lineo Respond To MS Embedded Linux FUD · · Score: 1

just my opinion, if MS are writing articles like this doesnt it show that MS are feeling the pressure of Linux?

While they say that Linux isnt viable competitor to Windows, so why is there so many MS vs. Linux articles? Strange but true (i'll have to dig some up!)

I think due to the ever increasing share of server PCs sliding over to the linux side, there worried that there new baby (WinE for short, not to be confused with WINE) may crash and burn cause Linux might provide better to OEMs in embedded systems...

I confess that i dont know much about the embedded market but wouldn't OEMs choose flexabilty over the ridgid closed software views of MS? maybe MS realise this and are starting to defend themselves...

  7. The great content drive? on Advice for Websites Combating Net.Obscurity? · · Score: 1

Its a shame that some sites slip away without the people of the net spotting its special points.

Fine some people say its evolution of the internet, and i sorta belive in this. Without the newer better looking websites people wouldn't strive to improve there site and make a more interesting, content driven, and community centered site. If this never happend we would be still stuck in the dark ages of websites, with simple black and red text themes.

While sites slip away without a blink of an eye, people must strive for the traffic now...no longer can we get away with dull repetive sites that cover the ground again.

    Anyway thats my 2 cents...

Well, i say i sit both side of the political land mines that are being buried lately. While cloning will be wonderful to medical science and the many people it *could* help, i fear that this may turn in the future. Now we've seen many doomsday predictions in famous pieces of work, for example the way Arther C. Clarke outlines at the end of the "Rama" series of books about a race that geneticlly modified themselves out of existance...Strived to perfect themselves so much that a defect slipped in and wiped them out...Can this be the final future of mankind? Fine that Cloning/Genetic Modifcation must take place to solve some medical conditions, but restrictions must be placed on it and make sure it doesnt get out of hand. Anyway thats just my 2 cents ;)
