The errors you get are becuse gtk2 fot rh9 and for xd2 use different prefixes during compilation. You could download the source patch and compile it with the right prefix for xd2
At best you could say they support i386-linux not linux... and you are still limited to a subset of all the available kernels...
You cal always compile the source for your kernel, I did it for my 2.4.18-18.8.0 kernel when the rpm for redhat 8 where not available.
I live in colombia (south america) and I can tell you if you go on and donate that $1,000,000 to hungry children here in my country I'm sure that most of it (if not all of it) will go to corrupt politicians and goverment emplyees.
Java works fine with mozilla 0.9.x on linux, you just have to install the plugin propertly. do the following: (as root) cd "mozilla directory"/plugins (in my case cd/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins) ln -s "java directory"/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji 140.so. (in my case ln -s/usr/local/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugi n_oji140.so.)
You must un-install all of ximians rpms in order to install mozillas, you may also need to temporatly un-install nautilus-mozilla rpm and galeon, and then install mozillas rpms
I wonder what would be cheaper for a big corporation that is migrating to linux: Buying hundreds of MSOffice licences to put on linux boxes or re-training their staff to use StarOffice, which is free of charge and not so differnt from MSOffice in terms of usability.?
That's really the point, an office will have a system administrator to admin linux boxes and all the rest of the people working the will be doing their work with out thinking about what OS they are running
Windows is only esay to use because people don't know any thing else exists.

I had an all patriotic response for you, since I'm from colombia, but I prefere not to fight with your ignorance.

If you want instant messages in linux you might want to try jabber(gabber) or amsn
