  1. Re:NOOOOO!!! on US Army Scraps Comanche Helicopter · · Score: 1

I hate to break it to you, but 'Comanche 4' will no longer be realistic anymore.

I'm afraid the fact that the Comanche actually takes off without exploding already ruins the realism of the game.

  2. relevant star trek reference on Using Bacterial DNA For Data Storage · · Score: 1

The crew of the Enterprise found out about this a while back. Turns out an ancient alien race encoded a trite message of good will in the combined DNA of Humans, Cardassians, Klingons and Romulans. This was part of an attempt to explain why all the intelligent life forms all over the universe look suspiciously like humans with different forehead wrinkles.

Whenever they take a classic game and they made it 3d it sucks. Remember Prince of Persia? One of my all time favorite games. Prince of Persia 3d sucked. There were various 3d versions of Pac-Man, all of which sucked. Lode Runner 3d? Sucked. Pitfall 3d? Sucked!

The only exception is Castle Wolfenstein 3d.

Reminds me of the classic French physics fiasco with N-Rays. Can anyone think of others?

Sorry to single out the French, but I suspect they have a knack for this kind of thing!

I don't think it's about fighting evolution -- it's just about delaying it for as long as possible. They have an existing monopoly and every day they stretch it out the money continues to pour in.

Another example: the record companies know that every year they can delay the widespread adoption of file-sharing technologies is another year they can freely suck the blood out of the american public. They can't stop it in the long run, but they have a huge financial incentive to slow it down.

  7. miracle? on Gene Therapy Cures "Bubble Boy" · · Score: 1

"seems nothing short of a miracle" Tell me something, why is it that after every great medical or scientific achievement someone has to come along and call it a miracle? It's not a miracle. In fact, it's the EXACT OPPOSITE of a miracle. It's an achievement of man, with no help from the divine.
