In Sanfrancisco a Lifetime or so ago, 16 of us friends, lovers, and family were a block and a half back waiting for show two on opening night Episode 4 {Star Wars}. Being a media junkie I had or had read/seen almost everything. We had snacks and sang and gibbered and laughed our way to the front. The first group, who got T-shirts were coming out, happy. The show was a toy joy and much fun. In the intervening years I have become less fanatic but I never wanted to be blocks back to finally sit too close in a great theatre. For these two guys it's just paying homage to a guild of good craft, the magic shop of creative skill at good fun. I'll cheer there enthusiasm and remain warm....for now.

Trying to Jump into the chatter.....NASA produced a dull if approximate tape on "Landing on Mars" ISBN 1-55541-026-x {1987 SSC{MA. }Personally the Whoopee cushion ride that used to be a moon ride and is now a Mars Tour at an older Disneyland was more fun. My favorite Mars Tour would have to be the TV show special on how we got there. Recently the Landing aspect was humorously dealt with in the Val Kilmer "Red Planet" bounceing ball. A game would indeed be fun something like the 80's moon lander mayhaps. Cheers,I'll go read some Carter Mars now....
The Graphic novel was quite good also. I'm responding to the end comment about Enders Game. That and Speaker for the Dead {Slower},both took Hugos. A Better series recently expanded in Brightness Reef, a trilogy, was The/ Uplift Wars.Any of those in the series are truely great work. There are smaller, better series but they are not consistently excellent,as those are. The Kzin, visiting writers series, are all well done but variable. This all reminds me ofBoy and His Dog. Good, also.

Science Fiction has always fallen in a Cowboys and Wild West mode for the most part. Life at home on Mars and Terraforming Venus always has a bad guy the local space Sheriff has to run out an air lock. Good science fiction tends to be oblivious to some existing conflict and has characters who survive event predations to create a workable surviveable situation. I think if we don't get "Fall of Moondust" bus trips we will have practice runs for world destroyer multi-monster whoopee runs......
