Free unions would never work and never survive the first attempt to a strike. Those, not members of the union will claim the right to still work and the employer will finally just hire those which aren't member of the union or are not showing any interest to be member of a union. Sorry, but this game is a all or nothing game.
Corruption exists everywhere and isn't particular to unions which aren't free. That's an oversimplification to say so.
Obviously you don't know anything about the scientific methodology required behind the scene to suggest such a odd thing. Both experiments are required to work in isolation in order to avoid bias in the results.
Do you know anything about science? Why do you believe we invest large amount of money these days to find the Higgs boson? Will it make a difference in your very little life? No, it won't cut your grass, cook your lunch or anything like this. And once you are at these questions, don't you wonder what all these guys in Bay Street, Wall Street and the likes are actually doing for you when gambling on stock options with no relation with the real economy and being rewarded with piles of money? Why did Picasso painted? What difference does it make in your life if cubism was still to be invented?
Discovering alien life isn't just about communicate with them. I doubt even if we detect a signal this civilisation still exist at the time we detect the signal. The point is about discovering that intelligent life really exist/existed somewhere else in the universe. Same value or even greater than discovering black-holes, supernovae and quasars.
The whole point is that the money won't go to the fusion research anyway. It will go to private initiative to put into orbit billionaires which don't know anymore what to do with their own money. And they just don't care about fusion research, they will always have enough money to buy the energy they need themselves.
Be serious, what are most Ph.D. in astrophysics are doing these days? Internet programming. So, why doing a Ph.D. to end up doing Internet programming? Here is the roots of the lack of motivation doing a Ph.D. You can cut six years in your academic background, gain six years in salary and ending doing exactly the same thing.
So what? I mean, that's still a stereotype. What's the point about marketing science in first place. Did your wife decided to do physics because she can wear high heels and nail polish? Surely not. How should a marketing campaign try to attract more women in science? What is the main motivation of anyone doing real science? I specify real science because it seems many people even on/. are just confuse about airing a science show being science and doing actual science. By sticking on cosmetic stereotypes, I don't believe you will attract anyone, your wife included.
The best marketing that could be done is to provide highly paid jobs with good working conditions and labs to scientists if you really want to attract people in science. For now, the money is in Wall Street and Hollywood. No wonder people prefer doing something else than science. Less efforts for higher rewards.
This won't work. It is possible to discriminate language and even multiple conversations using more than one recording microphones located some distance apart. That works wonderfully after signal processing.
Being non reversible doesn't mean it is an evolutive treat. To be claimed as an evolutive treat it must be encoded into the genes and passed to the next generations. So, the original argument is really poor and weak. It seems that guy just don't know what is evolution and is throwing this for the fame.
And it's easy to imagine fictional scenarios credible enough to request a shutdown while it isn't necessary and for other reasons. Can we trust them to us wisely this power. THAT is THE big question.
Sorry for all the typos. I was a little bit annoyed by the marketing strategy to surf on the Raspberry Pi popularity and make people talking about their product for cheap while it isn't really a competitor.
So, Intel just hack the popularity of the Raspberry Pi to try selling is future product or make customer delay their own near to orders for the Raspberry Pi.
Did you ever see what IBM did with his system management software suite, namely Tivoli? I am absolutely sure I don't want them managing my city. There would never been enough taxes to pay for an upgrade and patch the software once a month. And if there is, I am about sure the upgrade will fail or the CPU will top at 100% for no reason.
Anyway, this language isn't for you. That's a specialized language for numerically intensive applications and if you have a clue about what it is, you would found this language very easy to learn. It is almost the same as all the tools (Matlab/Octave) currently used in these fields and for teaching. You aren't expected to write a Web browser in Julia.
The performance/ease of use is the appropriate balance in this field. Usable in almost no time.
Oh! I forgot while I'm here. The Chinese aren't laughing at us for this reason. They did put man into space and found it useless, they no longer want to go to the moon neither.
Why should NASA put a man into space again? Isn't Virgin Space supposed to do it? I mean, beside pseudo-tourism, what else man have done in space a space probe/satellite cannot do?
If we can make these chips mandatory to Jeovah Witnesses so we can predict when they are about to knock at our door, it would be a great life improvement.

Corruption exists at the corporate level either.

That's the custom made and local version of Twitter in Canada. Welcome in Canada! Do you have something to not declare?
It is even more ridiculous. We can build thousands of probes for that purpose. The human is about useless up there.
Let's move the experiment in the subway.
Same kind of changes, your words. Same as what? Same as the news which is about an evolutive trait.
we will endup with no brain at all.
WTF!!! Don't you have something about an elixir of immortality or a time-travel machine, I meant, something real.
Go back to school, you do not understand a word about evolution. It's a pitty to read a comment like yours on a geeks blog.
Oups, I meant trait instead of treat. BTW, no matter how short you cut your leg, even if irreversible your new born won't born with one leg.

Anyone using or used lush here can compare?
