I emailed her weeks ago. I finally got a response yesterday (if you can call it that). It was just a confirmation that she received my email sent by one of her secretarial lackeys.
I have no illusions that she will actually listen to me or any of the Canadian artists who have been vocal on this issue (see Barenaked Ladies or Broken Social Scene). But I thought I'd send the email anyway.
Voter apathy is much worse in the United States than it is in Canada.
Voter turnout in Canada's last federal election: 68.4%
Voter turnout in the USA's last presedential election: 51%.
According to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, Canada ranks 77th out of 172 countries in voter turnout. The USA ranks 139th.
And are Americans are the ones spreading democracy around the world!?
