As an employee (and computer specialist, actually) in a USGS field office, I can tell you that it's getting really ugly inside the DOI right now. Cut off from the world and unable to do meaningful work, the behavior of our workers has reached dreadful depths.
Today's activities: Belching contest. Movie trivia competition (no outside help from the IMDb!). Group project to wire a Handspring Visor to a cell phone. Discovered new pen pals in other USGS offices (internal e-mail works). Karaoke tournament.
If this doesn't get resolved over the weekend I may have to quit rather than go in on Monday and face another day without the net.
