Actually, I have done just this with a CheckCard. My bank issued me a new card with a new #, and the old one was shut off. No problems. Of course, it doesn't stop the ISP from turning you over to collections for "unpaid service" that you never used...
Better to have software crashes than airplane crashes too. I have to wonder why there was no failsafe system to bring online while they were "upgrading"...
Actually, I think it is cool that they lost on their "home turf", since that court is right in their backyard. Maybe I attribute too much to it, though.
