    The problem is that morons like you don't actually know what they're talking about.

    Palm Pre identified itself as an ipod-compatible made by Palm. That's not a lie.

    Apple then changed iTunes to require an Apple vendor ID... forcing Palm to file a letter with the USB-IF saying that they have no choice but to lie now.

    But how on earth is Apple publishing an API to interface with iTunes, which Palm purposly knowingly and willingly decided not to use, how on earth is that Apples fault??

    I swear there was a memo sent out that I didn't get.. because this is the fifth person here claiming that Apple published an API to interface with iTunes. Provide a link to the documentation for this published API... because as far as I can tell, it doesn't actually exist.

    There's an API available for third party hardware to sync with iTunes, Palm should have used that.

    I've heard this said over and over, but as far as I can tell, it's not actually true. There is no API available for third party hardware to sync with iTunes.

    That would be true if they checked the DeviceID... but instead they check the VendorID.. so it's more like they look to see what is plugged in and see if it's made by Apple or not.

    My signature isn't in cursive. It's my standard print handwriting. With the "Print name" field though, I take a little extra effort to make sure it's legible.

    If you look at the actual shapes for cursive writing, you can see how it's basically just what you would get if you rejiggered printing to pick up the pen fewer times.

    Longer than that. We all used heart rate monitors in PE in highschool back in 1992. The teacher just yelled out "keep your heart rate above 120!"... the teachers didn't know your heart rate, only you did, because it transmitted to the watch you had to wear.

    Then why do they allow Frotz on there? There's even BaZic, which is BASIC for Z-Machines.

    More likely they banned it because C64 BASIC is made by Microsoft.

    What's funny is that the people who say "learn to play a real guitar" usually don't actually know how to play a real guitar. I play a real guitar. I've spent a considerable amount of money on guitars and stacks and pedals over the years. I even did my part for aspiring guitarists by putting a bunch of tabs up on OLGA back in the mid 90s.

    I still love playing Rock Band with my wife.

    GH/RB are extremely popular with real musicians. You always hear about them playing on their tour bus.

    Hell, did you even read the article? Dhani Harrison is a real musician, plays a real guitar, and "was up all night playing guitar hero".

    If AT&T made it more clear that international data was not covered by the standard iPhone plan, I think there would be far fewer complaints about horribly large cell phone bills.

    They do make it clear. The iPhone defaults to Data Roaming off. You have to turn it on, and the message where you turn data roaming on says "Turn data roaming off when abroad to avoid substantial roaming charges when using email, web browsing, and other data services."

    I've never scratched one of my xbox discs.. but I have purchased a used disc that was unplayable. I just returned it.

    This isn't a problem on the PS3. bluray discs are damn near indestructible.

    The title bar gets filled with tabs and the draggable/clickable part is razor thin and has no textual title at all.

    Maybe windows should provide a better way to move windows then. In ubuntu, I hold the super key, and then I can drag the window around by clicking and dragging any part of it.

    and row 4 is the location bar, and row 5 is the bookmark bar, and look at that, you have tabs on top.

    After the options backdating scandal, Apple's lawyers interpret Sarbanes-Oxley to require charging for new features.

    And yet Apple doesn't allow developers on the app store to do the same. You release a new version of your app, everyone who bought the old version can download it for free.. no matter what features you've added.

    They've trimmed 6 GB of fat from the OS

    Removing the PPC half of a fat binary is literally something you can automate.

    When they get rid of the 32-bit legacy in a few years, they can trim another 3 gigs of fat... automatically.

    I had my iphone 3gs get suspiciously hot one day. It was just sitting at my desk, plugged in. It wasn't running anything, but it was very hot. I rebooted it and it cooled down. Hasn't happened since.
