    Lithium Ion laptop batteries generally go for anywhere from $150-300

    It's ironic that Apples own Lithium Ion PowerBook and iBook batteries cost no more than $129 given that so many of the posts here elude to Apple's universally high prices on accesories.

    Why does a bank need to know your SSN?

    For tax purposes. Your bank is required by law to notify the government about certain transactions.

    It seems that Uncle Sam gets interested when you start depositing large sums of money into your bank account.

    Speaking of Emacs, The OS X 10.2 Terminal as a option to use the option key to the Meta key. This is the first time I've been able to use Emacs with a real Meta key and it rocks.

    Right. And this is why they CAN NOT just march in wherever they want, whenever they want, and do their raids.

    Actually, the fourth amendment prevents the U.S. government from doing this as well. Or at least it is supposed to.

    Actually, I think it says more about how tech savvy sixth graders are today.

    Verizon Wireless is a business unit inside of Verizon communications, but it is not a separate company. Look at the Verizon Company Profile for more information.

    Of course, most Americans don't see the need of an MP3 player when their CD walkman already works. In fact, many are probably pretty happy with their 8-track. Early adopters drive most new technologies. Creating products with "geek appeal" is important to gaining early acceptance from this crowd.

    Not to mention that many Linux companies use the same approach. That is, they start with a free OS and add proprietary software to create a their distribution.

    The real evil is the embrace, extend, destroy strategy of Microsoft.
