I think some people at UBISOFT should read Dilbert more often... This is practical Dilbert practice what they applied here, and speaking of lost sales they probably already lost more sales over the DRM scheme than it cost them to even implement it.
Hehe I think everyone thinks that currently, I am not sure if your management already got the message, but sheesh just look at your forums and those are your biggest fans. Not a single positive comment. You guys really have a problem on your hands! I hope the person responsible for this has to face serious consequences (which wont likely happen due to being the CEO)
Just dont buy the garbage, I dont even care to get some patches from the black market, I simply do not buy their stuff anymore until they stop this scheme. And believe me I bought more than a handful of games from them the last 10 years!
Actually as far as I can judge the indian guys, they do whatever rolls in money, using another language is not a barrier... Wrong conclusion, and I also worked with people from India who really could write code, ok they are the minority but they exist. But given how many people in the west write shitty code I assume the percentage is pretty equal!
First you need a physical connection... Secondly you need to enable USB debugging to get this up and running on the phone.... Third you need to install the sdk
but it can get easier, for the HERO ist is just installing a third party program from an unauthorized source and then press ok.
For the N1 google has put in an official way to root your phone... So regarding security, it is up to you, not the phone...
I personally found azilink + openvpn on osx flakey, I use wifi tethering which is built into most custom roms more reliable... Has also the advantage that you simulatenously can tehther to more than one computer.
Not sure how it works in SF but I worked in public places and often here in Europe it is like that that the entire departement is understuffed entirely and they try to get away as cheap as possible, due to the fact that they see IT as an afterthought. So they hire the cheapest guys and only as few of them as possible. The only ones getting a good pay usually are the ones above the departements (middle management, most of the times with some law degrees, because public service is a career option for them into politics) From time to time there is one person in those IT departements who is really good who sticks to the job due to job security and having a big skin to cope with the dailiy sh*** which flies against the departement (Have in mind often fairly arrogant and stupid people work there usually worse the higher you get) So from what I could read here this is fairly normal, thats how many cities are run. They are not run by the most intelligent brightest people but by the weasels with the biggest mouth. Intelligent people usually flee after 2 years from public service departements or give up internally.
Apple has reached an absolutely new low, well it has been there before when they sued left and right companies for technology they themselves copied from Xerox...
Instead of suing they should start to get the iPhone right, how about a decent JavaVM or Flash..
The patent is bunk because Xerox invented it and pinch and zoom has been used on phones before Apple.. Btw. half of the OO patents apple has noted on the HTC sue list are design patterns from the gang of four books. They even patented the observer pattern (object oriented event system), so the entire patent is bogus, but as long as the USPTO is handing out patents like free beer this wont stop!
Problem is that about 90% of the patents have a load of prior art, most of the plain software stuff Apple patented can be traced back at least to the Gang of Four patterns book, and from there back into Smalltalk and the mid 70s, it should be rather easy for HTC if they do proper research to basically kill most of not all of those patents mentioned. This reminds me on the 80s Apple when they went on a stride to sue everyone who had moving Windows and generally Windowing systems, while they basically just copied what Xerox did. (Pinch an Zoom btw. is also a Xerox invention)
Filed between 1995 and 2005, thinkgs like oo graphics system oo event notification system etc... Half of the stuff has been documented in the Gang of Four book ca 1992 and has prior art from Xerox Smalltalk etc... way into the 70s!
Sheesh I get more and more the feeling that Steve Jobs has lost his mind since he almost died. If they sued they should pull off patents with a little bit more substance than toilet paper! I am pretty sure since HTC is longer in the mobile phone game than Apple ever was they will countersue with something more substantial. Seems to me more like a suing to grab some patents off HTC than anything else.
Exactly, no persistence layer will help you against sql injections per default, simply by swithing to an orm layer you are safe from them is a common myth instead you just shift the problem from sql to hql or jqpl, only parametrized queries really help you to avoid that.
The hardware requirements of most games are pretty moderate, I have yet to play one game except Crysis which does not run perfectly fluid on my PC with a 80$ NVidia GT, the problem is that most people have shoddy intel integrated graphics controllers in their games, while the consoles have processors 5 times as slow as intels normal above atom offerings, the graphics controllers are 5 times as fast as the ones Intel provides but still way slower than the current bunch of low range cards from ATI and NVidia.
Except what everyone overlooks, Android is developed by the open handset alliance, sure google is the major player there but google by far is not the one which can dictate the rules.
The problem also is the vendors, they are not very eager to support any phone model longer than three months if at all. The situation like we have it on WinMo repeats itself, the phone vendors take your money if you are lucky you get another update and three months later the successor is there and then you can only rely on the community for hack roms. I would say it is WinMobile reloaded, and that lots of the drivers are closes source does not make the situation easier.
Googles interest is to route as much traffic as possible to their services so that they can earn the ad revenues, now this application basically performed inbox searches without redirecting the user to gmail (where google would get the money from the ad revenues) So they simply killed it because it did not bring them any revenues!
Actually the european parliament since the Lissabon treaties now are in place is more powerful than ever, which is a good thing, since the parliament is very democratically elected and thanks to the sheer number of fractions things like fraction alignments like it happens in some local parliaments never can happen. For some european countries now the EU parliament is the first parliament they have in history which really acts like a parliament and not like some whore following whatever the fraction alignment tells them to do just to stay on the payroll of someone.
I would say since the Lissabon treatys the EU is closer to democracy than some EU countries are, we have the comission which can be axed by the parliament and every, absolutely every law which needs to be passed down to the countries have to be ratified and can be axed by the parliament (before it had advisory status, they could axe but in the end there were enough other ways to push the gutter down)
The problem also never was the comission, the media just blew it out of proportion, in fact some parts of the comission really do an excellent job for instance the ones which handle the anti trust issues. Important things such as the Swift treaty mostly were carried on by the council of ministers, which is represented by ministers of the single countries, exactly those persons who voted yes in those gremia and then went home to their own countries blaming the EU for what again was passed down over the EU into the single countries. Speaking of lying the members of the council of ministers were the biggest liers and basically scapegoated the EU and Comission for everything they simply did themselves! I personally stopped blaming the comission for everything because most of the evil stuff simply came over the council of ministers down the last years (mostly the interior ministers which seem to have a habit of becoming assholes as soon as they are appointed, or have been the biggest ones before even being appointed)
That wont change until the bosses stop to enforce IE6 and wan the latest nifty whizbang stuff they read about, which was designed for html5.
you use the right frameworks but wrong tools...
Screen is slightly smaller resolution more or less the same, the ui is superior in almost all aspects.
Well for Ubisoft using the Goatse image as Startup screen for the game probably would have cost them less sales.
I think some people at UBISOFT should read Dilbert more often...

Actually my HTC Hero is pretty good at non sucking, every aspect except the 3d games performance is way superior to the iPhone...
I personally do not think the UI in Eclipse is worse than the one from XCode but it adds refactoring which objective C ides lack.
Actually as far as I can judge the indian guys, they do whatever rolls in money, using another language is not a barrier...

You always can use layout managers...
Only Windows UI Programmers complain about screen sizes...
First you need a physical connection...
Secondly you need to enable USB debugging to get this up and running on the phone....
Third you need to install the sdk
but it can get easier, for the HERO ist is just installing a third party program from an unauthorized source and then press ok.

Well for my Hero it was just installing an APK and then pressing, root the phone on the running app, so it can get easier....

Technologically...
you start to sue...
Apple has reached an absolutely new low, well it has been there before when they sued left and right companies for technology they themselves copied from Xerox...
