I've been locked out of my flickr account. My old Yahoo DSL was the only technically "yahoo" address I had when I tried flickr. Canceled that junk and locked myself out in the process. I've been unable to recover the account in any way. I really liked it. Mainly because of the email posting. So I could just send pics straight from my phone to flickr. It's slick.
I imagine the geeks store will carry their USB floppy drive for a little longer... I couldn't pass that deal up ($15.99!) as it seems way too often I need to install raid drivers, do a bios flash or some other odd floppy required task to get a deskop or a server going... I never get to use my USB drives. Kind of a bummer. (and the real humor is, the floppies are only needed when we have to combine top of the line equipment!)
I find it hard to believe it would even get to the point where this has to come up. I'd say professors are doing something wrong if their students get to the point of citing Wikipedia. At the same time I think Wikipedia could be a really useful tool for universities or high schools in class even. A challenge basically. I say; For students of any subjects: research relevant portions of Wikipedia, read them and cross reference authoritative sources to make corrections and improve the entries found to lack something and then in larger segments report on their findings, corrections and what they learned in the process.
It would be a good way to teach people how to properly use Wikipedia, how to be objective, learning a subject, learning where information tends to vary or where mis-knowledge comes up and retention of knowledge can only be improved in this kind of process. They'd be contributing to making Wikipedia a better resource and it's a far more comprehensive learning strategy than I'd ever seen applied in school.
That's really interesting. People give me such a hard time for being kind of the devils advocate of everything - but there really isn't a free ride, there really is always SOME kind of drawback or uncommonly known issue to deal with or *something*. (I've kind of always been a little hard on geothermal) The pollutants you describe aren't so bad all things considered but the extra care required adds up. I'd imagine there probably also was not any pre-made components to be used to clean up the waste on the way out which makes it a little more expensive until they're more in demand.
Nothing is perfect though. I think that's why all technology pisses me off so much. There's no utopia, there's no perfection. It makes ones brain hurt trying to pick the right tool for the right job.:-/ (well mine anyway)
No, actually until replies started flying to the orginal post I hadn't heard of it. As far as I had known it was the well accepted theory. But then my idea of finishing a weekend and relaxing before Monday is like 4 hours of switching between Discovery, History and National Geographic channels. (even as tainted and biased as some of their content may be)
Rather than debate, at great length with nothing solved or really accomplished but sarcasm and smugness - I think I would much rather test this on a control and monitor it for a few weeks and just see how it goes. Technically it's an easy enough modification to make and if need be remove even accross large numbers of sites (in many cases).
I like do be a jerk, be sarcastic and sometimes even play the devils advocate playing "debate and debunk" as much as any self serving geek but when it comes to spam I'd rather respond and test. I may just create a forum for success/failure reports on my site in case anyone cares to try this method and share results.
It has gotten to the point where a good majority of many peoples customers are willing to try almost anything... Why not give them the option to try it out?
And don't forget that incidents to happen while transporting the waste. There was one just recently, I think it was from one of the California plants, the truck driver stopped at some point in like Idaho or something - noticed he'd been leaking... Oops!! Also funny was that I didn't catch anything on the broadcast/spoonfed news about it. I happened accross it while searching for some semi-relevant info. "Nuke waste spill? We can't put THAT on the news, it'll depress people. Lets get back to that raging wild-fire we've been doing live reports on for the past 5 days, RATINGS ARE HIGH!"
Actually, since it's the molten state of the magma as it churns and flows, the spinning of the core that creates the planet's magnetic field (like an electro magnet) - it's cooling would probably mean no more magnetic field and leave the planet to be bombarded with radiation from the sun among other things. The result would probably turn earth a little more like Mars. (inhabitable by humans to say the least)
I had no idea G.T. energy was already in use in California. Just goes to show how much one knows about where his own power comes from. But to say produces more energy than Solar and Wind combined, is that really saying much?
It's interesting to see numbers on these. Hadn't really ever considered people seeing the spam and going for it in anticipation of the spam blast increasing the value enough to make any money. Honestly I've always had a very hard time accepting that anybody would see a stock spam & buy shares. I talk to people all day long who're drowning in spam and completely fed up. Wouldn't that be motivation enough to not take any part? (I wonder to myself) Nope, it's not all that infrequent for me to also talk to or hear about one of the last people on the planet as a user or large scale network admin who has previously been sheltered from spam-hell and is caught completely off guard by the volume of spam being flung around once they get on "the lists".
That's funny. Dealing with conflict positively. Am I the only one that thinks that kind of mentality is thoughtless stinky hippy crap? Or do I totally misunderstand the point of conflict?
ah well. I figure there is no positive way to deal with something as inherently negative as 'conflict' so the real idea should be preventing conflict in the first place. Much like preventing the kids from being born in the first place?
Maybe responsible parenting is a matter of teaching kids how to grow up learning how to deal with 'conflict' more efficiently. More effectively.
But alas, how many parents know how to be positive or deal with conflict anyway?

Do you still believe in the easter bunny too? Fantasies are great & all, but why not keep them to yourself, if you must cling onto them into adulthood? Yeesh.

The article did say it could have been banned altogether, but wasn't. GO REDS! :-)

Well yeah, lets just expect everyone to shut up unless they have something impressive to say! oops.
Hehe, yah, oops. I don't always multitask all that well.

I was going to say, there's no way for anyone to resolve an alias to a destination mailbox without admin on a box - that's pure paranoia! haha

What the hell is wrong with people?!
