Im in the "Wireless Pilot Program" at the college of engineering at nc state and we dont have nearly this much coverage, just some of the buildings have partial coverage, and the only outdoor coverage I know of is at "The brickyard" which is traditionally the most trafficicked spot on campus. I think the library has full wireless coverage as well.
Also in their contract make them liable for any lost revenues do to loss of said data, make examples of a few people. And all the sudden your people will be doing minutely full back ups
I hear the carnivore stuff runs linux, the FBI says they dont trust microsoft for secure operations, also most governmetn websites seem to be running on linux/unix servers, go search around netcraft.com
This just goes to show how monopolistic MS is, Intentionally and blatantly making it hard for governments to switch from Proprietary software. But even the US has started making some strides toward Open Source, last i checked both fbi.gov and whitehouse.gov are running linux/unix based OS's, must have gotten tired of script kiddies.
So this explains why 'Who let the dogs out' sucked so bad when i downloaded it, surprisingly after months of trying, I still cant seem to find a legitimate, nonrepeating copy. The RIAA must be pretty serious about all this
I just bought a zaurus, and they talk like sony has already made a Mpeg4 video player update for it, but has yet to release it, it already plays Mpeg1 and 2 if im not mistaken, and of course it does MP3s, and downloadable programs can make it play OGG. heh and with a 802.11b card on the NC State campus, and a 40 gig NFS partition, ill have all the storage ill ever need on a PDA
http://www.microsoft.com/unix/ie/default.asp actually it seems they have IE 5 for HP UX and Solaris, interesting isnt it? "We have the way out, but just in case your still stuck...."
In a way piracy and murder are exact opposites, they are 'half thefts'
In murder the victim loses something, namely his life, but the murderer (normally) doesnt gain anything tangible, so in murder there is only loss. Similar to theft in that the victim loses something
In piracy, the victim doesnt lose anything, but the pirate (normally) gains something, similar to theft in that the pirate gains something from someone else.
So both murder and piracy are both, halfway like theft, but in murder there is only loss , and in piracy there is only gain. (note: i am in no way comparing piracy to murder, murder is definately alot worse than any kind of theft or piracy)
the only decent InkJet I own is an old one, a HP DeskJet 500c, no USB crap, no Winprinter crap, just a real postscript printer that does fast black and white, and crappy color, didnt hurt that I got it for free.
Opening a SSH connection to you desktop wirelessly from your zaurus is a truely wonderfull thing to behold, I just did it to the first time last night, it was breathtaking.
if you think half empty is bad, a friend of mine just bought her first computer, and bought a cheapo 50$ printer, the first thing she tried to do was print some pictures, and they were looking pretty strange, so i go over and take a look at the printer, the black ink cartridge was COMPLETELY empty, the most empty i have ever seen an ink cartridge, there were small minute traces indicated that ink was present in there at one time, but that was it. (btw, yes it was an hp printer, and we live in NC, not minnisota)
I thought we always knew mars had quite a bit of ice at the poles, but the fact that there is now enough to cover the whole planet in water is very interesting, i doubt the *whole* planet was ever covered in water though, because if so the whole surface would end up being ice right?
IIRC Consoles are generally sold at a loss, it is generally accepted that the real money in the console market is in the games, thats why xbox's and ps2s are so cheap now, show me where you can build a 600Mhz system with a 10 gig hd, geforce3 and however much ram for 200$ or whatever theyve cut it to lately. So in reality, by buying an Xbox just for the hardware to put a decent os on and have an interesting living room piece, you are actually causing microsoft to lost a small ammount of money.

Its expensive, and has a minimum of 2 seconds of lag. Also I will be attending NC State starting next fall, all the bandwidth i could ever desire.
alas there is no alternative out here in the stix.
I was able to download this book off kazaa in PDF form 3 days ago

Backups? We dont need no stinking' backups!!! Now go order that executive leather chair for my office.
Bah, php is sooo much more intuitive than cgi. cgi is dead, dead as ASP
It would seem not too many without computers would have a large stockpile of DivX movies they want to play on their TV
Having the Xbox sell more while not selling games causes microsoft to lose money. The consoles are sold at a loss.
"No more proprietary software!"
Unfortunately, theyd probably end up eating those words later to

Wow, you just described my new Zaurus, cept the Mac synch is on the way.

At one time there was IE 4 for solaris available from Microsoft's site. (Not sure if there still is)

'Illegal Copying' or 'Piracy' kind of stretches the definition of theft a bit to doesnt it?
Interesting, but then again all NT Box's are ailing
