Isn't inbreeding pretty much the way of the wild? I know that horses at least (which, given, are NOT mammoths) consistently mated with their own offspring/parents. I don't think that's a stopper as far as repopulating the world with mammoths. What would stop it pretty effectively, however, is the commercial value of the novelty of 'owning' the rights to mammoths in general; Some big corporation will pay to make the clone(s), and get the "rights" to them... I can just picture mammoth regeneration not for the good of the mammoth or for the people in the world who would love to see extinct species alive again, but for the dollar signs in the eyes of a greedy corporation.
While we hear propaganda from both sides of the eco-coin, the truth is the ecosystem is in balance right now. -- I'm just wondering what you're calling 'in balance' -- does anyone know the numbers of 'this many species go extinct every day' that you hear all the time (yes, propaganda, but is it true?)...? Seems like it would be more of a 'balance' if we weren't losing species right and left, and adding a few back into the mix... Just my two cents.
Way to say it, Your_Name. I think it's high time the people took responsibility for their own political views. All day long, anywhere you go, you'll hear people whining and carrying on about how 'The Government' sucks, and how 'The Government' doesn't care what 'the People' want/need/etc. Remember "We the People"...? Where did we lose sight of it? Or did we even mean it then? Sure it'll take a ton of work to get people to actually *gasp* learn about the issues that effect them -- but it's high time we stop complaining about how other people are running our lives and making the important decisions for us. Go, go, go!:)
Who'd be Molly? Some miscast anorexic like Michelle Pheiffer? ----------- Sorry. I have just as much issue with anorexic, unrealistic women on TV and in film as any healthy-minded woman does, but don't choose Michelle P as the poster girl --- look to Calista Flockheart for THAT (dubious) honor. Someone should force-feed that woman a box of corn starch.
It's important to me to have a job that I enjoy, and a company that I enjoy working for. But let's be serious here: If the job (and the issues relating to it) is the same, but the pay is more, I'd be an idiot to stay with the low-paying one. 3 Months ago I was a full-time employee doing the same job I do now, making $32K. I worked for an appalling harpy, and put up with a TON of garbage a day, on a routine basis, all the while being urged to work longer and harder, to get down that mystical "Road to Six Figures" (that's actually in the employee handbook). So one day about a month ago, I quit. Walked out. No new job in sight, nothing. 2 weeks later I got offered a contract -- doing the same basic type of work -- for $50/hour. I guess the Road to Six Figures started just outside the door of the other company. So what does this mean? IMHO, where salary is concerned, size DEFINATELY matters!

45K as the median for *entry level* software engineers? Not quite. It's more like 35K. 45K would probably be median for someone with over 2.5/3 years of work experience. (These are Silicon Valley area figures; In the midwest, it would be slightly lower.) Contactors, now... entry-level software engineers in SV can often get $35-50/hour, which works out to 70-100K. Contracting is it, in my opinion.
You're right. I didn't feel that way about E1PM, but I *did* feel that way about Return of the Jedi. (I'm referring to that "bigger than life" feeling, a weird connection to Something Bigger. I guess E1PM missed some critical element that ROTJ had for me. Did anyone else feel that way?

Again, just my two cents.

Well, at least there are recruiters reading it; Maybe we can "conveniently" leave little notes on the boss' desk! *laugh*
