    Makes sense when I can't find any evidence of anybody at Berkley or MIT having a working prototype, lots of theoretical papers, but has anybody done a Linux port yet??

    regardless of who is blowing hot air out his/her ass about how much they know about QC, I seriously fucking doubt that the Israelies have a HANDHELD Quantum Computer cabable of cracking RSA 512, let alone in 12 microseconds...

    Hey, my first machine (if you could call it that :) was a V20. I loved it! i still have most of the parts in my basement somewhere. how about the C-64? Now that was a decent machine, totally open source, right down to hardware (I can't count the number of times I've soldered parts onto mine) Sometimes nostalgia is a good thing, even for those of us that are young enough that we should be able to remember this stuff.

    I run two websites, and an FTP site and two of the 5 systems on my network run Linux, nobody cares they just said "if it ain't Windows, we can't guaratee we can fix it, but we'll try" Every thing is just sweet! My brother in Vancouver is on cable, and i kick his butt for speed & cost.

    my 18 year old brother almost got himself arrested and charged when his girlfriends parents found out how old he was, she was 14 but looked older and lied about her age. but if he was 17 he could nail her all he wanted.

    My brother has 4 tattoos, one of which is a barcode tattoo on his upper forearm, its not an ID number or anything, if scanned (it was done with IR sensitive ink, cost a fortune) it reads "hello there". its kinda neat, and he uses it to hit on the check-out girls at the supermarket (yes I am fully aware of how lame that its...)but the point is, that is perfectly acceptable, because it was voluntary.

    The actual political system to which we should be comparing free software is Marxism (Karl Marx), Communism is the term used for the Marxist-based-Dictatorships we see in places like China or the old USSR. In communism, everybody is equal, except the ruling class who get special privilidges.

    In Marxism everybody is equal. period. There is no special treatment or President-for-Life, just honest working people who contribute specialized skills or products to society in exchange for the basic necessities of life, and then some.

    As for contribiting and not being paid..
    First of all: Isn't the fact that you're making the world a better place payment enough?
    Secondly: If nobody contribited then you wouldn't have that CD-ROM driver your using on your Linux box, you gotta give to get.

    I graduated last year, but I still know quite a few people in High school. If anyone in my class had brought a "mini-HERF gun" to school, and i found out, I would have promptly smashed him in the face with my Chemistry 12 textbook. Then I'd sit on his chest and zap him in the face with a laser pointer pen for a couple hours... see how he likes it.

    Ignorant people who would actually do something like that for kicks don't deserve to breath let alone attend public school.

    I don't even want to start on the whole "legalize crack" thing, but as for the whole illegal search & seizure. HA!!
    I'm proud to say I'm Canadian, i live in a great country, Its so great infact, that we started off with less civil rights than you Americans had, and we're losing them just as fast, only we're too wrapped up in our Maple-syrup-induced bliss to even notice!!!

    I own a gun. Its a .22 rimfire, single shot, no magazine, no assault weapon capabilities, i doubt i could even kill a coyote with it, as it only takes low-power target ammo. If some one mentions the fact that i own a firearm (regardless of type) to a police officer or politician, i go to jail. If the cops show up at my year-end staff party to tell me to turn the stereo down, and happen to see the gun cabinet in my bedroom, i go to jail. they don't need a warrent, just any excuse to enter my home, then they take my overgrown BB gun, and lock me up for at least 18 months. Because I refuse to pay $80 to register my "gun", shit I only paid $65 for it!! They claim that registration will reduce crime.... if you say so...

    Exactly true. I have over 800 megs of MP3s on my network at home. that translates into alot of music!!! and guess what, except for about 30 some-odd songs, I ripped them all myself, from my personal CD collection. I dumped em all to an extra 840meg HDD and now never have to put a CD in my 'puter (i don't even own a stereo)

    Its fast, convenient (once setup) and its LEGAL!
    the ones i downloaded are all Indy groups, who recorded the stuff themselves, then posted it to get exposure.

    Besides that, if the record labels want to regain control of the industry, they'd better remove their heads from their asses and wake up. As long as you don't distrubute the MP3s there is no legal problems. Heck even if you there isn't anything they can do about it!! I for one will not be buying an MP3 player this holiday season, and for the record, I've never paid more than $15 for a CD, most of mine are used or were on sale.

    As for plot twists etc. I'm gonna anticipate, and wait.

    As for the Leo DiCaprio thing... well, I'm glad rumor sez he declined the script. If Leo was cast in the movie, I would be there on opening night man!! With a sachel bomb full of plastique and bits of scrap metal. I would snap and kill as many people as i could. (I figure if you went to E2 knowing Leo was Anakin, you kinda deserve to die...)

    Littering and polluting the evironment (while I'm not a greenpeacer, i still agree its wrong) is way off of EM interferece.
    Crap, the Sun gives off more EMI than every electronic device on earth, and come next year when those sunspots flare up... Well, i plan on having a shielded system! untill then, i will happily go about causing interferece to my Cordless phone with my toaster (yes, they can cause EM interference)

    Actually anyone who's played X-COM: UFO Defense would know that 115 is actually called "Elerium 115" and is the powersource for the alien spacecraft.

    Precisely, the CD-ROM Drive tray is used as a cup-holder, the CD-ROM itself has many more applications than the drive...

    In addition to a coffee mat (we call them coasters for some reason.) and mirror, in an emergency they can be used as "Deadly Ninja Throwing Discs".


    PS-I overclocked my CD-ROM too, it was a 12x, now benchmarked at 28x

    I agree 110%, i also will:

    never buy their products
    never work for them
    tell everyone I know not to buy their products
    tell everyone I know not to work for them.

    But in addition to that, participating in a Global Scale boycott, i would support the idea. The computer comuninity (especially programmers like us) have lived far too long under the watchful shadow of "Big Brother" whoever that may be. Software patents, patent infringment (crappy Operating Systems...) and the like.

    Dammit! we have enough power to fight back, but we can do it on our terms, we run this world now, we just don't know it yet.

    I say we give em a good scare, and if they try something like this again, we could just shut em down...

    Okay, using the human brain for power is a good idea (if your a semi-psychotic AI..)

    Neo was almost totally blind and paralyzed when he first woke up, but his brain "thought" it knew how to walk and see, so its quite plausible that he would recover quickly

    As for "Cows" dying, well, remember the line "originally the Matrix was a paradise, but people wouldn't accept a perfect world, and they kept waking up?" if no one died, sooner or later they would catch on...

    and yes, all of it made sense, to me (and several hundred thousand other people)
    i doubt if you even could understand it...(big words and all.)

    if your computer is on, and you're online and I flick the switch on the powerbar, it is possible to damage your computer right?
    Well, if your Brain was plugged into something and i pulled the plug on that, it would probably screw u up pretty good...

    okay you've got a point with the phone booth thing, they probably could used someother way of shutting down the connection
