It's a little odd that GMO advocates are so opposed to people knowing how their food was produced.
I wonder if they feel that people are too stupid to decide what they want to eat?
See above:
"Then about a century ago, scientists began with mutation breeding by applying mutation-inducing radiation and chemicals to speed up the process significantly."
"unnecessarily label stuff as if it were scary"
The public has a right to know how their food was produced. Just because a handful of people don't consider GMO highly undesirable and/or "scary", doesn't mean the majority of the population shares that incautious opinion.
Well let's give it a try and see what happens. But I know both industries have fought and will continue to fight tooth & nail against mandated warning labels.
It seems you are ignoring the millions of workers who have been impoverished by the policies you advocate. What do you say to the masses who have seen their livelihoods destroyed so a few bourgeoisie could profit?
If the frankenfoods are clearly labeled as GMO, hardly anyone will buy them. Probably the government will try to force people on public assistance to eat GMO, so their bribe-contributors in the industrial farming business will have *someone* to buy their unwanted garbage.
"Then about 25 years ago, direct ways to add and edit specific genes into food-producing plants began to be used."
Yeah. That's what we want labelled.
The public has a right to know what they're eating.
Look everybody - an anti-Trumper *gloating* about American factories literally being shipped to China.
This is why you lost. This is why you will lose again and again.
I think the President is just tired of America being the willing (eager?) loser in every single trade deal for several decades.
You can talk all you want about how "free trade" is good for everyone. The millions of victims of the policies you advocate, however, are not fooled.
Hahahahahahahaha! Good one!
The United States exports hardly anything. Financial paper, yes. Idea monopolies, yes. Extracted natural resources, yes. Actual products - hell no.
We can't lose a "trade war". Because we're already down & out. The economy in the manufacturing states has been in a state of total collapse longer than I've been alive. There is *nowhere* to go but up.
I didn't vote in the last election, because I didn't like either of them. But after watching him for 2 years, President Trump has my vote in 2020. He's definitely not perfect. But at least he's on our side.
C'mon, you know large parts of the European working class have been driven into destitution by "free trade" policies. Don't they keep suspending democracy in southern Europe, because the financialist puppets keep losing?
"Free trade" is awesome if you're a rich, rootless bourgeoisie. For everyone else it sucks dog balls.
Abandoning American workers is why Hillary Clinton lost the election. And why the next Democrat will lose in 2020.
Democrats *used to* be the party of the working man. Now they're the party of kicking the working man in the face.
How are the Chinese doing without Google? Just fine.
Somehow they manage to be the most powerful economy in the world even without the benefit of petty totalitarians in Mountain View snooping everything they do. Weird, huh?
Anti-trust action is more suitable for Google than Facebook. See the recent Euro court decision.
Facebook doesn't need to be broken up. Instead their creepy cyberstalking business model needs to be made illegal. Strong data privacy legislation would put Facebook out of business.
CALEA was the Bill Clinton era anti-patriotic law that mandated all cellphones be built for surveillance ("lawful intercept") from the hardware on up. Afaik it has jack to do with Net Neutrality.
Working full-time at ANY job should pay a living wage. There is absolutely no one who deserves to work a full day every day then not be able to afford healthy food and decent shelter.
If companies prefer to starve their workers so the fat cats can get a little fatter, the state needs to stomp them out of existence. When your business is profitable and your employees are starving, that means you are STEALING your profits from your workers.
I'm all about free enterprise. If you're an honest businessman, you run a solid business, do something useful, pay your workers well, conserve the environment, are an asset to your city - then I hope you make big giant bags of money. Live it up! Drive around in a big limo, eat at the best restaurants in town. Everyone will smile and wave when they see you go by. Little kids will want to be just like you when they grow up.
But if you wanna get rich by disreputable shit like dumping toxic waste in the river or paying your workers so little they have to live in public assistance. Well fuck you. The state's not going to let you do that. We'll seize your assets and redistribute them to other businessmen who can do a better job than you. Get out of town, you're a parasite, you're not welcome here.
Developers work slave hours for increasingly shitty pay because we have no solidarity.
Jealousy and infighting with our brothers in labor the airline pilots is the opposite of useful here.
What's really funny to me is that "progressive" used to be a colloquial synonym for "liberal". But somehow in the last few years it suddenly changed meaning to "prudish, intolerant social conservative".

Mutation breeding should probably be labelled too. The public has a right to know how their food was produced.

"everything should be labelled as GMO" You don't *really* believe that, do you? I mean I've heard of willful misunderstanding, but c'mon...
"Then about 25 years ago, direct ways to add and edit specific genes into food-producing plants began to be used." Yeah. That's what we want labelled. The public has a right to know what they're eating.
No need to ban GMO. Just clearly label it. No one will buy it, and the frankenfarmers will go out of business.

Google isn't an American company anymore. In order to facilitate tax dodging they made themselves an Irish company.

"recession-proof" If you bought that, I have an unsinkable ocean liner you might wanna check out.

A fundamentalist petty tyrant is a fundamentalist petty tyrant - the rest is just details.
